Dr. Cheryl L Howard-Young (Central Georgia Womens Healthcare, PC OBGYN 225 Smithville Chrurch Rd ste 1100 Warner Robins GA 31088 phone 478-333-3891 drcherylloung@gmail.com requested 2,074.00 in test from Labcorp. I received the Cigna explanation of benefits and over 16 tests were requested. I didn’t authorize, give permission, consent to, nor was I aware of these tests. I scheduled an appointment for a routine yearly PAP. I’ve been getting them for over 36years and they are covered by my insurance. I didn’t sign the authorization for blood work to be run during my visit. However they did blood work and stated it was a part of the routine exam and was covered under my insurance. However they didn’t tell me what was being run nor did I get results. I was shocked and upset to see they billed my account that amount and that 205.67 was taken out of my HRA balance. I was tricked and lied to during the visit. When I contacted Lapcorp I was told than over $908 was for STD test. This really upset me because I’m divorced and abstinent. I wouldn’t have consented to STD test with no chance of having one!! Also to add insult to injury they local Health departments provide those types of test for free. There would be no logical need to request one during a PAP exam. I had neither concerns nor issues when I arrived. I was also made aware of a $230 vitamin D test! That’s absolutely crazy because m sure if I was lacking D I could buy it at the Walgreens for cheaper.

She has a dog running around the office and I overlooked that because she was very professional and polite when I was there. I had no idea she was requesting unauthorized test overcharging my insurance that impacted my HRA balance. I called and spoke to the office that was rude and asked me “well why you take the blood test then!” They hung up. I spoke to her and requested she refund the money.  She was very nasty and cut me off yelling “Are you finished!! Look it is your responsibility to know what test you need and don’t need during the visit. Get you a Lawyer and I’ll see you in court then!” Then she hung up. That was the most unprofessional “Doctor” I ever spoken to. That statement was unrealistic.

How am I supposed to know what Test I need? I kept reiterating “Routine PAP” that’s covered by my insurance NOTHING else. She took it upon herself to order unauthorized test and refuse to speak to Lapcorp to admit the mistake so that I can get the refund back to my HRA. This is the shadiest unethical billing practice I’ve ever experienced. It was more than an emergency room visit. I plan to report her to the Medical board and social media.
