I recently found a charge from this company for $19.95. I had no idea who it was or where it came from. I notified may bank immediately filed a report and was issued a new card and number. I was searching on line to find the origins of the company which led me to this site and other people who had similar experiences with this company, some for a whole lot more money. I late discovered that this originated from a PC tools that were put on my PC a year ago., Namely Spyware Doctor.

I assume that when this was originally order there was something pre-checked or embedded in the agreement policy that allowed the company to automatically update my subscription using the same account information as the original order. I have also encounter the same practice with Norton and with Stopzilla which had gone unnoticed by me for a couple of years.

That's right I actually paid for it that long without realizing it and not even using the product. Anyway Norton and Stopzilla were easy to contact and the situation has been rectified. Not so with Element 5.

When they finally did send me a e-mail of the transaction efforts to contact them resulted in an error notice and unlike the other companies I have been unable to locate a phone number for their customer service. It is not even on the charge transactions as with most accounts.

This practice is definitely a benefit to the company , not the consumer. Most people like myself do not even remember the original purchase a year later. And how many will know in a year's time if the card they used originally is the one they want to use a year into the future? Word to the wise before you click submit on anything read the fine print and look for precheck boxes. And always review you account information regularly. This is just another way even good companies get paws in your pocket!
