I have worked for the physician listed above as a mid level provider for the past 3 months. In this 3 months it has come to my attention that he is habitually billing patients inappropriately, especially personal injury clients referred from law offices. The particular practice he is in now is a new practice, however he has been practicing in the same town for over 20 years.

He was most recently fired from Sebastian Medical Group after less than 6 months of practice due to his inappropriate practices. As his nurse practitioner I have witnesses the following: 1) Billing patients as "new patients” as opposed to "established,” despite if he has seen them previously in the past, even patients he has performed multiple surgeries on within the past year. 2) Billing personal injury LOP patients at the highest level of billing possible, even if he has spent less than 5-10 minutes with the patients 3) Ordering x-rays and MRIs that are unnecessary 4) Ensuring postoperative patients are billed for new complaints when they return to the clinic for follow up. 5) Documentig physical exams that were never performed and billing for them. 6) Seeing an inappropriate number of patients in a day, up to and exceeding 40 patients in a day. 7) Ordering and performing surgery on patients where conservative measures could have been more appropriate.

This physician has even gone behind my own personal billing for patients I have seen independently to inflate my billing charges to patients. As a healthcare provider, such practices appear to be lacking integrity.
