Sandi Smith of Dragonhouse Shibas in Valley, WA neutered my dog without my permission.
On August 9, 2012 Sandi Smith of Dragonhouse Shibas sold me a male puppy. No contract was signed and no verbal limitations were provided. On March 9, 2015 at 9pm I loaned Sandi Smith our intact male Sozoshi Tatsu (Tatsu for short) for 48 hours for a natural breeding with one of her females. Sandi Smith signed a formal contract stating I was the owner outright of the dog and that the dog would be returned on March 11 at 9pm. On March 10th I received a call from her husband Nick Smith stating they were keeping the dog as long as they wanted.
After reaching out to the Shiba community, I learned there was a possibility that my dog would be neutered without my consent, and even that I might not get my dog back. I immediately started contacting over 250 veterinary locations and providing them with my contract, microchip registration and cancelled check for payment for my dog. I also contacted the AKC. On March 12 at 3:30pm we were told to meet Sandi at ICSB (a dog sperm bank) in Boring, OR and if we provided a semen collection she would provide us with th dog (basically extortion). Approximately 20 minutes before the meeting time Nick Smith sent a text and cancelled the meet up.
At approximately 5:45pm we were told to meet Sandi at exit 88 off I-5 in Washington at a McDonalds parking lot to get our dog - 120 miles one way from our home. At 9pm sharp Sandi Smith pulled in to the parking lot. She opened up the back of her SUV whre Tatsu was NOT crated, had him JUMP from the vehicle, handed the leash and a pharmaceutical bottle to my fiancee and left. The top half of the label on the bottle had been ripped off, the label had been taped to the bottle, and there was nothing showing what the medication within the bottle was. Tatsu was whining and in distress and was found to have been neutered without our consent. We sent a text to Nick asking for information on the vet clinit in order to get instructions on care of the dog and what to do in the case of complications and were told to never contact him again.
After another 120 miles we arrived home. Tatsu stood the entire distance, refusing to lay or sit down, so my fiancee kept his arms around him for safety. A friend called a local 24 hour vet to find out how we should take care of the dog, and whether he could have water or food. We provided Tatsu water and food when we arrived home, which we had to provide a couple of pieces at a time because he was trying to gulp it down, and luckily had pain pills from a prior issue with our other dog. Every time we went to try and pet him he would flinch. Our boy finally fell asleep after midnight. There is more detail, and I would be happy to provide documentation showing factual information, but this provides a high level outline of what transpired.

In regards to commentors saying how wonderful Sandi is, and that I am a liar. I will say it one more time. I am NOT a breeder. I do NOT show dogs. My Tatsu was a pet ONLY. NOTHING I stated was a lie. I have documentation to back up EVERYTHING I outlined in my report of what happened. Both Nick and Sandi were cruel and hateful to both my husband and I, and abusive to my dog Tatsu.
I have NOTHING to gain from telling my story, and in fact have been bullied and called a liar for my trying to warn others of Sandi and her tactics. Yes, her dogs have amazing temperament and are beautiful, but that doesnt make up for what she put my family and my baby boy through!!

Just so everyone is perfectly clear. I am not a dog breeder. I did not purchase a dog to breed. I do not show dogs, and so am not in any kind of competition with Dragonhouse or their standing in the dog show community. I am a telecom engineer. I do not now, or have I ever wanted to breed dogs, show dogs, or do anything other than have a fuzzy family member. Anyone who tells you that my original information is because I am jealous, or was conspiring with other breeders, etc is LYING. You can even research my name on linkedin if you like. I have NOTHING to do with the dog world. I was simply a person who was lied to by Sandi, and whose dog she abused. He still suffers from abandonment issues to this day.

The last person to say Drangonhouse did not take my friends dog and neuter him is either lying herself or believes anything Sandie Smith says, Sandie took my friends dog and did just what she told about and not only did Sandie smith do that to her but she also lost a law suit with Alice Schel and returned her dog spayed!
She is a crook and has hurt many people!

She will come across as your best friend, and then when you least expect it she will cut you deeper than you ever thought possible. PLEASE PLEASE talk to people in the industry! She has taken other dogs from people, neutered / spayed them without their consent, and in some instances they never got their dogs back! The AKC refuses to do anything and still lists her as a Breeder of Merit - even though she treats people and their dogs like they are garbage. DO NOT buy from this person. DO NOT trust this person. I am happy to provide ANY proof you need of her deeds and what she is capable of. And can provide a multitude of references that have gone through similar events with her and their fur babies. DO YOUR RESEARCH!

Are you serious??!!! I have a SIGNED CONTRACT BY SANDI SMITH stating that the dog was provided to her for STUD service and that she was to do no HARM or NEUTERING of the dog. AND SHE SIGNED IT AND DID IT ANYWAY! I would LOVE to attach a copy of the contract on this site but can't seem to find a way to do it. If ANYONE would like a copy of the SIGNED contract for me to show PROOF of her deception, please contact me at travel_adventurer@hotmail.com. After reading this report and being witness to what has been going on. I have to write in response to this fake report being posted on RipOff. The writer of this report forgets to mention that it was a mutual agreement between the two parties that the pet male should be neutered.
This is especially important because Dragonhouse Shiba dogs are ranked top in the nation and the bloodline of these dogs are in high demand by other breeders. In order to protect the blood line. It is required that all pets be neutered
The party above chose not to neuter, infact was coinspiriing with other breeders who wanted the bloodline. The dog was neutered in agreement and returned safely in healthy condition.
I must say, consumers must undersand that any ripoffreport or negative review floating around the internet is merely a ploy by other breeders to take down one of the top Shiba breeders in the world. Due to jealously and hate.
I have one of Sandi's dogs and among MANY other pet owners of hers, can testify that we love and know Sandi does an amazing job with her dogs. She NEVER abuses ANY of her animals. Dragonhouse Shibas have amazing temperments and are beautiful dogs.
Instead of reading these fake reports and lies. Please contact Sandi directly and you will understand how wonderful she truly is, and how beautiful her dogs truly are - inside and out.
