I was charged $810.00 for less than an hour of work. On site location .45 minutes. The job: to connect a rubber coupler to two broken plastic pipes; one leading to the sump pump, the other pipe to the street.

The hourly rate is absorbant $810.00 ./. .75 minutes =    . The contractor lied to try and justify the hourly rate by stating his staff was on location two days instead of the .45 minutes. Even if staff was on location for an hour and they were not $810. ./. 1 = 13.50 per minute or over $400+ per hour.

California State License Board state's a contractor can charge as much as he/she wishes but it should have been in writing and it should have been a contract. It was not. It was verbal.
