I recently stayed at the Dreams Resort in Punta Cana for my honeymoon. On the 4th day of my trip I became extremely nauseated and began throwing up between 10-15 times per day. Being pregnant, I thought it was "morning sickness" at first. But it continued to get severe. By the next day I went to the clinic on site at Dreams. The clinic said that I had potential food poisoning and that I was severely dehydrated. They admitted me to the "Centro Medico" emergency room where I was hospitalized for 2 days. It was found that I had severe, agressive food poisoning due to the food cooked at this all-inclusive resort. I was given an IV and made stay at the hospital for 2 days losing out on our trip. After returning to the resort (with 2 days left) I was told to stay out of the sun due to my dehydration (which was due to throwing up so much because of the food poisoning). Now...correct me if I am wrong...but what are you supposed to do at a beach resort when you are not permitted in the sun? Well I pretty much wasted away hundreds of dollars and stayed in my hotel room watching television (the hotel room ofcourse with ants, a safe that would not work and an admittance card that seemed to fail everyday resulting in us sitting out in the hallway and waiting 30 minutes each time for maintenance). I highly recommend that you know all of the facts before booking a trip in a "lavish" all inclusive resort because the truth of the matter is, they are not nearly worth the money. Not only did I waste away thousands of dollars because of the food poisoning I received, but only time will tell if the food poisoning caused harm to my unborn child (that was 3 months at the time and will be due in December). And ofcourse, Dreams will not respond to any of my complaints. I have called, emailed, and even had my travel agency try to communicate. They are quick to take your buck but could care less to hear from you if you have anything negative to say. A horrible honeymoon to say the least....
