I contracted with Drees in 2007 to build a home.  To describe my experience thus far as disappointing would be quite an understatement.  To begin with, I am now on my 6th sump pump in 6 years!  Had to have the first sump pump relaced within the first 6 months my house was finished.  From the time my home was initially built to the present, my sump pump has consistently cycled on every 45 seconds to 1 minute every single day.

Just to provide some perspective, my home was built during a three month summer drought in 2007, 90 plus degrees every day and no rain, but yet plenty of water getting into the pit.  I'm not an engineer or ground water expect by any degree, but anyone with an IQ above 100 would recognize there's some serious issues and mishaps going on.  To this point, Drees has yet to provide any resolution whatsoever.  Apparently, I'm supposed to live comfortably in a home where my sump pump could burn out at any time and leave me with ruined belongings in my basement.

So far, my basement has flooded 4 times, the last one leaving me with 12 inches of standing water and a hefty insurance claim.  It is obvious there are some serious issues of neglect as either my home was literally built over a pond or there were some complete oversights during construction.  All I know is it's not normal to have a sump pump run constantly all year long, every single day, every 45 seconds to a 1 minute.  In addition, one of my basement walls had a crack in the foundation within the first 3 months.  I have had several plumbing contractors point out and document numerous building code violations that lead me to believe my home should have never even passed an inspection.

I recently had to have a leak repaired under my tub on the second floor and it was then discovered there had been electric run with wires directly underneath the tub!  Shocking that the house didn't catch on fire.  The soil underneath my concrete patio continues to erode each year, requiring me to fill it in with dirt each year.  At this point, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if a sink hole forms and engulfs the entire house into the ground, which is where it belongs!
