On July 7, 2013 I was led to a website to download the software Drive Manager through a Software Customer Service website. I was to find out later that the invitation to download Drive Manager was apparently a Drive Manager ad, not a recommendation of the Software Customer Service.
In order to activate Drive Manager, I was required to telephone a person (A WARNING—most activation codes arrive by email rather than a complicated, labor intensive procedure by the company) who asked for my name and email address and then sent this email:

He proceeded to remote control of my computer, installed the activation code and then, against my objection (his mission was to sell me a very expensive home visit), ran "PC Checkup from Norton". He then turned into a high pressure salesman who claimed that my computer had 6000 problems that could only be partially solved with the "Norton" program, Norton PC Checkup, that I would have to authorize a costly home visit (A WARNING---seems like a scam to me). When I refused the very expensive home visit, he terminated the session.
Drive Manager offered a free program, Norton PC Checkup; unlike other software vendors, there was no option to refuse the free program. (Warning)
Driver Manager appears to have named their program Norton PC Checkup to imply that it is a reputable program. It is not a Norton (Symantec) program. List of Norton (Symantec) programs from their website July 8, 2013:

In my view, the major thrust of both of these "programs" and their associated procedures is to frighten trusting and unsuspecting persons into unnecessary and very expensive procedures, bordering on fraud.
I uninstalled the "programs" and requested a $39.94 refund, which was granted and accepted.
