My husband recently decided that he wanted to attend truck driver training school because employment opportunities in our area are extremely limited.  It had taken him over a year to find the last job he had.  I hated to see him go, but we needed him to have stable employment, so he began working with a recruiter for Drivers Choice named Cal Larson.  He contacted Cal and filled out an application for training/employment with CRST.

My husband was very up front about all of his information and history.  My husband spent 6 years in the United States Marine Corps, and was injured in Afganistan.  For a few years after he was discharged, he did not renew his driver's license as he lived in NY and had access to public transportation.  This was not ever addressed as a problem during any of the numerous phone conversations with the recruiter.  Cal called frequently and my husband gave him any information needed.  My husband was ecstatic when he received an email saying his application had been approved and that information regarding his training at the school as well as buss ticket info would be forwarded.  He had no reason to think that anything was less than perfect.  The bus ticket was bought and all the final preparations made.  He quit his job as he was to leave ASAP.  Approximately 12 hours before his departure, we start receiving calls from CRST and Cal.  They wanted more information, which we provided and then Cal delivered the blow that he was "disqualified" for not having a valid license for more than 15 months.  My husband was livid.  He had jumped through every hoop and never hid any bit of information.  He had no criminal history, no blemishes on his MVR.  They approved him, then after he quit the only source of income we had, they told him he no longer qualified.  We are now facing eviction from our home, and God knows what other hardships ahead.

Drivers Choice and CRST made an egregious mistake and should be held responsible for it.  They were given every bit of information they needed and they approved him for their program.  We did everything they asked.  We placed our financial future in their hands.  To turn around in the final hour after we had given up everything and ruin us financially is just atrocious.  I hope to God that no other person has to suffer the mental turmoil that we are going through and I hope this serves as a warning to anyone who may run across Cal Larson, Drivers Choice, or CRST.
