My wife and I where looking for a new we went to several dealers and no one would finance us except these professional thieves "DRIVETIME".

As first time buyers, we didnt know anything about buying cars, So they let us have it. We bought a 99 chevy malibu with 67k miles, a car that was worth bout $3,000 or less, was sold to us for $11,405.15

After finance charges @ 29.00% we will end up paying about $18,742.20. The car has had no problems except for the alternator, The car now has 76,644 miles and no problems.

We know that we were ripped off, But just because we have bad credit it shouldnt be this way. I have 3 kids and this chevy malibu looks smaller and smaller everyday. So we went to see if we could trade the car in for an SUV, they valued the car at $1,150 dollars.

This DRIVETIME crooks need to be shut-down. If any one has any tips on how to trade this car in please help thanx

Julian...Here's an option

Take out some good insurance on it that includes GAP coverage. This covers the amount you owe on the vehicle if it is a total loss or comes up missing. Hint Hint

Or you could drive real fast down Fremont Street, jump the sidewalk and park it on the sales managers desk. This is my favorite.

I used to live in Las Vegas and feel your pain.

FYI...Vandalism in Clark County, and the State of NV is NOT criminal, It is a CIVIL Matter!
I buy this little pointy scratch awl at Wal-Mart for about 2 bucks. Be careful, it is very pointy.

About 3 AM when all cops are in the donut shops and Drive time creeps are sleeping.. Visit the lot, and place tool firmly on each sidewall on each tire on each vehicle on the lot and push firmly until you hear air escape slowly. Repeat these steps until all tires are flat.

I personally did this to aa entire taxi fleet of about 30 cabs, and was expecting to go to jail, but at the time did not know of this law. They called the cops, the cops showed up, smiled and handed them a card with the number for the small claims court!

I laughed my a*s off. The next day, I faxed them a Pep Boys tire sale ad!

Have fun!

Just A Suggestion

Julian, I understand how frustrating that would be. As a stay-at-home mom, I know that money can get tight. BUT - had you paid your bills prior to this, you wouldn't have needed Drive in the first place. And I nearly choked when I saw you paid 29% INTEREST! Oh my GOD. My advice would have been to save up some money and buy a used car cash, and then, save up some more money for a nice down payment for a NEW car down the road. I posted a message similar to this to another Drive "victim"; I'll tell you what I told them. I used to have a mediocre-to-low score (around 550) and I was financed through a "second chance" company, Centrix. My interest rate was 17% - low when compared to yours - but my husband and I knew that was our fault for not PAYING OUR BILLS. We paid the car off (a little early), and now have another car with a low interest rate. Did I hate paying that much for a car? (480/month for 6 years for a DODGE STRATUS - yuck) YES, but I knew that if we were responsible this time, next time wouldn't be so hard. I'm sorry you feel taken advantage of, but you have to know that this company took a chance on you, and that you are bound to the terms laid out in the agreement - the one YOU signed.

I hope things get better for you, and I wish you luck.
