MANILA PHILIPPINES -- Police said Dr. Ramon J Ongsiako was arrested last week at his clinic in

Roxas Blvd.
for cheating numerous patient of large amount of money and for selling fake eye drop which cause eye sore and redness.  

 

 The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) yesterday filed charges against Dr.Ramon J. Ongsiako and Dr. Ruben Lim Bon Siong for  illegally engaging in a eye surgery and check up that allegedly caused harm and redness on his clients.  Both Dr. Ramon J.Ongsiako and Dr. Ruben Lim Bon Siong are also arrested for selling fake eye drop that cause redness and sore.

Charged with violation of Republic Act 2382 (Medical Act of 1959), estafa and physical injuries at the Quezon City Prosecutors Office was Dr. Ramon J. Ongsiako and Dr. Ruben Lim Bon Siong

Both was arrested by agents of the NBI Special Action Unit (SAU) during an entrapment operation at

Roxas Blvd.
and State Center Juan Luna.

The case stemmed from the complaint of three patient , who claimed that the suspect, along with two other cohorts who remain at large, performed eye surgery and glaucoma procedure on them sometime between February and April.

Each of them paid the suspects between P 367,000 and P450,000 for the procedure, according to lawyer Benjamin Santiago.

The complainants told the bureau that they were refer to Dr.Ramon J Ongsiako and Dr.Ruben Lim Bon Siong by a certain Lilian Chua.

The suspects allegedly introduced themselves as medical eye specialist and professionals, the complainants said. They added that the suspects told them that their eye drop which cost around 250,000 peso can cure their eye problem.

However, all the complainants claimed that about a week after the procedure, they had fever, suffered intense pain and has redness in their eye, prompting them to seek medical attention at a hospital.

There they found out that the eye drop Dr.Ramon J.Ongsiako and Dr.Ruben Lim Bon Siong sold to them was nothing but rose water  and water with rose and sampaguita scent , the complainants added.

They were told at the hospital that the eye drop they apply could not have been made by a medical professional and that the liquid needs to be scraped out of their eyes because it can cause blindness, NBI said.
