On Sunday March 10th James Lara showed up at our front door pitching an alarm system for $36 dollars a month with a onetime fee of $107.25 for a wireless communication device.  I turned over the check for $107.25 and my Social Security Number along with a signed contract for the services.  He walked out of our house saying the system could get installed as early as this week, but for sure by next weekend.  I will be in touch with in the next couple of days.  The check cleared the following Monday night.

After not hearing from him within the next few days, I called him at the end of the week.  He said with spring break he was short on staff and couldnt get it done, but would try for the weekend.  That weekend my wifes grandmother passed away and I did not contact Mr. Lara.  However, he never tried to call me either.  He contacted me on the following Monday and said he would be in touch with me again in a couple of days.  He never called.  I called him back, following my wifes Grandmothers funeral, the following Thursday.

He did not return my phone call.  I called him back the following Friday and said I think we need to cancel his services.  I called back the following Sunday and said I was going to report him to the better business borough if I did not get a refund and cancelation.  He called the following Monday and said he was out of town let me have one more chance to get this done.  I will call you tomorrow by 12:00 noon and set up a time to be at your house.  I told him this system needs to be installed by the end of the week or there is not deal.

He did not call by 12 noon.  He called on Thursday around 11:00 AM and said he would be able to be at the house by 1:00PM on Friday.  Because of the short notice I had to make arrangements with my mom to be at the house for the installation.  The earliest she could be there was 3:30 PM.  He said consider it done.  I also requested to leave early from work to relieve my mom.  The following day, my mom was at the house by 3:00 PM.  3:30 passed and he never showed up.

I had to call him around 4:00 to find out what is going on.  He called back and said his installer is running late and he would call me to let me know when he is on his way.  At 5:15 I called him and said if he is not here by 6:00 its over.  Needless to say it was over.  I called to cancel and faxed a cancelation letter to his company asking for my $107.25 back.  I have yet to receive my money back.  Typing this up is making me sick!! Nothing was ever delivered as promised.  He lied to us on multiple occasions and took our money.
