Duncan Roofing Ripping Off Employees. Illegally Garnishing Wages Ripoff Saint Petersburg Florida

I know a person who works for this company and has for quite sometime as a roofer. The company has some kind of system called "The Smiley System" That if you miss a day of work for whatever reason (being you're sick, family is sick, legal issuses, anything) they will dock you $2.00/hour for the whole week. Say you make $9/hour, they will only pay you $7/hr for the whole week if you're out one day because you're sick, injured, or anything else. I don't believe this is legal. I know MORALLY it's not right. Also they do not pay you for your ride/drive time to a job. This meaning that if it takes 2 hours to get to a job, your time doesn't start until you get there. Then you work 8 hours on the job, and another 2 hours to get back to the wharehouse. That means you have been there a total of 12 hours, but only get paid 8 hours and then get knocked down $2 less an hour because you had a Dr. Appointment the day before. I have been told alot of people that work there put up with it because it's so hard to find a decent job now. Also they put them in the back of this huge truck (about 15 workers) and make them sit on top of all these tool, trash, brooms and shingles. I have heard of guys just about falling out of the back of these trucks on MAJOR highways when the driver hits a bump.

If anyone has a phone number of where this can be reported to, please let me know. I don't think a company like this should get away with ripping off hard-working employees who are busting thier butts in the sun, and dangerous enviroments just to support thier families on money that is cut for circumstances that aren't thier fault.

I think this should be reported to the labor board but I cant seem to locate a # for them. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
