I took a class at this place they call Dunlap-Stone University - International Import Export Institute three months ago. I paid $900 for my basic importing and exporting class that lasted six weeks. The instructor showed up once a week and slapped some one line comments in the classroom. In my second week, I complained and received no response from the school. The third week of class, I called twice as I got no feedback on homework or class material from the instructor. I was informed that they will contact the instructor. The situation did not change. So, I rightfully asked for a refund. They told me once you pay, you are done, whether or not the instructor teaches online in the virtual classroom. The receptionist Cathy, told me to speak to Tyra Andrews, who is the daughter of the CEO of this school. I got no where with her. So, their ONE student advisor asks me to speak to Caulyne Barron, the other daughter of the CEO and she basically told me the same thing - no refund even if you learn nothing in class.

I wrote to the persident, Don Burton and I never got a response from him.
So, I dug deeper. This is a family business - the Burton family. Valeri Burton the wife, is the bursar, Caulyne Barron (married name) is the oldest daughter, Tyra Andrews is the second married daughter and TJ Andrews is the son in law. Please do not get misguided by their website listing different family members in administrative positions. This is all one family, only interested in making a quick buck at any cost.
Last week, I was at a US Trade Compliance seminar in Dallas and I met John Priecko, who used to actually teach for them before. He told me never to take another class again there, as he left due to severe fraud at this school. I believe him.  He also told me that the President of this school is good friends with the executive director of their accreditation council, DETC and they get accredited no matter what. So, I checked and yes, it is true. I see Don Burton on a committee at DETC. So, if I complained with the accreditation board, I wonder how far the complaint will go?

It is a shame that Dunlap Stone University only cares about money and NOT about students. How far will this family go to make a quick buck?

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

There's a Whole Lot More to the Story...

AUTHOR: John - (United States)

POSTED: Monday, January 08, 2018

This Ripoff Report was recently brought to my attention.

Do NOT be fooled!  The Tanya Martinez complaint is only one of many.

Here is a list of some of the other complainants.  The US Department of Commerce, Law Division; The DSU/IIEI Certification Board of Governors; Bobby Butler, prior DSU/IIEI Student and Instructor; Brad Chatfield, prior DSU/IIEI Staff Member, Student and Instructor; Melissa Jensen, prior DSU/IIEI Staff Member, Cyrus Katrak, prior DSU/IIEI Student and Instructor; Heather LeMelle, prior DSU/IIEI Staff Member; Victor Sanchez, prior DSU/IIEI Staff Member; Keri Timmons, prior DSU/IIEI Staff Member;  Todd Reynolds, prior DSU/IIEI Staff Member.

Collectively, among other things, the above documented complaints address a wide-range of issues including unethical, unprofessional and irresponsible conduct, plagiarism, dishonesty, grade changing for monetary gain, financial mismanagement, harassment, enrollment enticement, false claims and false advertising, trademark infringement and illegal conduct.

Further, based on my extensive first-hand experience and knowledge as a DSU/IIEI Student, Instructor, Course Developer, Advisor to the DSU/IIEI President and in my role as the President of DSU/IIEI’s Certification Board of Governors (CBG), Tanya Martinez’s complaints only address a small portion of what went on.

If you really want your eyes opened, track down the CBG Executive Board Resignation Letter.  As a result of that letter and the ongoing DSU/IIEI wrongdoing the other CBG Executive Board Member and all the CBG Committee Members resigned.

The bottom line is DSU/IIEI’s self-proclaimed, self-administered bogus certifications based on non-existent and self-determined standards are not accredited by any credible, external, knowledgeable, independent, unbiased, recognized, third-party validation authority.  They do not even meet the basic requirements of a genuine certification program.

#1 UPDATE Employee

Thoroughly Researched, Unfounded Claim

AUTHOR: Dunlap-Stone University - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, October 26, 2009

Dunlap-Stone Universitys Registrars Office has no record of a student by this name, and no records of any complaints during the time period listed. Upon reading the post in question, a thorough inquiry was conducted. DSU prides itself on a strong discussion-driven virtual classroom and high academic standards and would have immediately addressed any complaints such as those described in the original post.

The accreditation of institutions involves a large number of individuals from schools across America, from both member and non-member organizations, as well as those from the administration of the accrediting body itself, in order to accredit a school. It would jeopardize the entire accreditation process in this country if one person within the accrediting process could influence the outcome. The only way for an institution of higher learning to gain accreditation by a reputable regional or national accrediting body is by passing a stringent peer review process.

Both Dunlap-StoneUniversity and the Distance Education and Training Council take complaints seriously and have exact policies and procedures in place to address them fully. Like many American businesses, the DSU began as a family business, and it is proud of this fact.  With a growing student population, DSU is proud of its heritage and is equally proud of the fact that in 2008 it gained accreditation for another five years after a thorough scheduled peer review process, a testament to our quality and dedication to our students.
