On 09.05.2009, Ronald Kraft II of Durakraft construction sent us a quote replace our roof and paint our home. The original quote was for $5,608. Once we received the quote, we informed him that it was way too high and that we would look for estimates elsewhere. Ron continued to call my husband to see what he could do to get the job and eventually told him that he would do the entire job for $2000 (which we have on a voicemail recording) On 09.21.2009, we sent the adjusted (noting the new agreed upon price of $2000), signed contract to Ron by fax and sent him the deposit that we had agreed upon of $780 to start the work. I have an email from Ron stating that this was the deposit required and that the remaining balance would be due within 7 days of completion. Ron then started work . He then told us that after looking at the roof some more and in the attic, the job was going to cost an additional $1246. I informed him that we wanted to look into things further and not to do any additional work till after I got back to him. We then had the home inspected and found out that the additional work was not necessary - there was no mold or water damage in the attic as Ron had told us. During the inspection, a contractor was out working on the roof and told us as he was working on installing the new roof that Ron specifically told him not to install any ice shield when our contract from Ron outlined that 6' of ice shield would be installed. Once I was informed of the actual condition of the attic, I told Ron that I wanted the work completed as originally contracted. I also wanted a schedule of the work to be performed so that we could have an inspector verify that everything was being completed correctly. He then decided to back out of the job and our contract. I also became aware that Ron took it upon himself to cut down bushes and trees in our yard with out our permission. He also moved/destroyed other areas of the landscape and left the debris from the roof and lawn throughout the yard.
Lastly, he was given the code to our lock box so that he could enter the home to inspect the attic and that was it. We later found out that he was entering our home without our permission to use our bathroom, etc. and dirtying up the place.
I tried numerous times to work with Ron through the issues that came up, but once we brought in some accountability for the work he was doing, he bailed! I'm sure he thought we would be an easy target to take advantage of being that we live out of state... lucky we checked up on him!

Ronald Charles Kraft, II, you are a liar and a thief! It's only a matter of time Ron before it all catches up to you and it looks like this is it!
Consumer Warning: This guy will paint a pretty picture and low-bid every job - that's because he will not do the work and can make a huge profit.

I also saw in a recent news report that he is telling people that he was born 3-8-1979. That's also a lie. He was born in 1978.
He claims he has all of these high dollar jobs, owns prime real estate, has won lawsuits against local businesses, and several big crews working around the clock in several states. The only thing he worked was the wing basket and beer keg at Hooters!
DON'T BE TAKEN BY THIS SCAMMER! He sounds convincing at first but then its not too hard to see through the nonsense. TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT THIS GUY!

On 9/5/2009 Christy Comstock recieved a bid for her job for $5,608, which they agreed to pay and also thought was very fair if you are a contracter or a home owner you would know that this is a fair price for a 23 square roof and also to paint the exterior of the home christy was never involved in talking to me until we did the roof tear off which we have pictures of workers working on the job my wife contacted me in the middle of the day to let me know that christy sent a email that they only had 2000 dollars in there budget after they agreed to my contract i called my foreman on the job and told him to cover the roof water tight with tar paper and tarps and to leave the job they where out of money christys husband kevin comstock has a father who they say is a home inspector that is not good enough for me to believe these people are cheats and think they are business owners we have leins filed on the home as of now for the contract price our attorneys are proceeding to foreclose on the property we will update this to let you know what the end result is. DURAKRAFT construction has been in business since 1979 we have 42 truck on the road and are working in 15 states we have 213 employees for the past 10 years which are all union workers. you can contact our office at (586)930-2578, 24 hours a day i am glad that we did ask for 780 dollars up front for this job or we would have never recieved any money from these people they live in colorado and said no one could meet me at the job the house being worked on was there residence in michigan until 2006 when i asked them can someone meet me at the house to discuss the project and they said no i was real worried about these people living here there whole life and not having any family or friends here (SHOWS YOU WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE THEY ARE) after we started the work all of a sudden there non educated father shows up (GO FIGURE) now they have family wow we do not take deposits from people who are face to face but someone calling from out of state whe can not have any one meet you(WARNING) get a deposit or you will never get payed we have about 2300 repeat customers.
