This company is owned by Gary Delia. His phone numer is (407) 924-6480. This company is employing deceptive sales practices in the presentation of the product. They train the salespeople to tell the prospective customer about a bogus "target marketing program" which entitles the customer to a discount on the windows as long as they sign up while the representative is in the home. They are supposedly not entitled to the "discount" at any other time. The way it works is that the representative is to follow the following script. This is done after the rep is supposed to present a substantially higher price than what the company can actually do the job for, and a higher monthly payment. The customer of course will object to the high price and payment, at which time the rep will go into the following script to close the customer. This is the exact script verbatim (with my comments in parenthesis):

The Target Marketing Program Close

5 things I will need for you (to qualify for the program):

1. Job sign on the lawn for 30 days (does not happen)
2. 30 days after the job is finished I would need a letter of recommendation and who would normally write a letter like that? (they do not go back to the customer for the letter, unless the salesman does it)
3. Before and after pictures that we can use in our brochures (also does not happen unless the salesman does it, and there are no such brochures)
4. Price confidentiality because the price I "may" be able to offer you "tonight" most likely will not be available to your freinds or neighbors. (a complete lie, and a tactic they use so that the customer does not tell people about the price, find out they paid to much, and cancel)
5. Last but not least, I will need a yes or no while I am here this evening. The reason is this program is on a first come first serve basis. We only offer this program in certain areas and I am not sure if it is even available in this area now. What I would need to do is to call my office and give your address and zip code. If it is available they will give me an acknowledgement number which will tell me what the discount would be. If you decide to accept it that number would go along with your agreement... and if you decide not to accept it I just have to call my office so they can put it back into the system so other famlies can take advantage of it. Fair enough?
pick up the phone and make the call...
At this point, the rep is supposed to call the sales manager who will "check the system" to confirm that based on the zipcode and address that the program is available. Bob then says that he has great news, the program is available, and gives a bogus acknowledgement number off the top of his head. Then the salesperson is supposed to close the customer on the lower price (which is still too high) and pressure the customer into signing the contract. There is no target marketing program. It is just a ploy to get people to think they are getting a great deal.
If you are seeing this after signing up with Duramade - be advised that you have been duped and are paying too much. My advise is that you cancel immediately and find another company that deals honestly with it's customers.
By the way, this company is the same people who were known as Tropical Roofing, who had to change the name and line of business because of too many complaints to the Better Business Bureau...

Completely different experience

AUTHOR: Ananda G. - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 10, 2011

I have had a completely different experience from what was mentioned here. I had my windows installed 3 years ago after having had a bad experience with another window company. My windows have given me nothing but pleasure (and very low electric bills!) since. Duramade went above and above in their professionalism, their price was better than many others whose quotes I'd gotten and their product has been absolutely wonderful!

I came to Duramade because of a good recommendation from a neighbor who swore by them, and I've told many, many people about the quality of their product since I had mine installed. My understanding is that this company installs windows and doors in thousands and thousands of homes in Florida. Certainly you can't please every single person as there are some who will complain about anything and nothing you can do will make them happy.

Well I am a very happy customer of Duramade's and will continue to sing their praises!

BBB Accredited business

AUTHOR: David - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 13, 2010
Gary, I checked with the BBB today and it's on record, you are not now, nor have you ever been accredited by the "BBB", why are you trying to dupe folks into thinking that you are, your salesman even trying to tell me that....Everything that this "X" employee has put down in this report was told to me also, you are not very open or should I say honest.  I got a better deal with a "A+ BBB accredited" business that was honest and upfront with me, treated me with respect and answered all my questions, good and bad.  I will be doing business with this company NOT yours, thank you, your people and salesmen have taught me a very valuable lesson.

Owner should reconsider hardcore sales technique

AUTHOR: L. Jezard - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, March 05, 2010

Whether the complaint was from a disgruntled x employee or not, our experience with Duramade's sales approach is as described by "Rup U Off".   We strongly suggest Duramade reconsiders their sales technique.

We live in a condo in Lakeland, Florida.  A man rang our doorbell and said that they were installing windows in a condo down the road from us and even gave us the street name. Since they were working in the neighborhood, they wanted to offer us a free estimate.  We have been considering new windows so we set up an appointment.

The sales guy turned up on time the next evening.  He told me he didn't know who the man was who rang our doorbell the night before nor did they have any ongoing installations in our neighborhood.  That was the first red flag to me.

The salesman gave us a very good (but highly scripted) presentation and made a big deal about the company's reliability and quality work.

Then he gave us a price of around $15000 that was around what we thought but still a large investment for us.  When we asked about financing, we got a ballpark monthly estimate for some indeterminable period of time.  It all seemed a bit easy and off-the-cuff to us which raised another red flag.  We told the sales person we would want to check with our bank about what we could get for financing; we have good credit and are careful about spending that kind of money.

That's when the salesman told us about the Target Marketing program.  He made a phone call and afterwards promptly knocked off over $3000 from the original price.  This raised the third red flag; a 20% price reduction for a poster in our window and some photos??

In addition, the so-called estimate was written on a skratch-sheet with absolutely no details, no company name, no product info - not even the number of windows - and we were supposed to make a $15000 commitment based on that???

He kept asking us if these were the windows we wanted and why wait?  I told him very clearly that while we thought the windows looked good, we would not be making a decision right there and then, discount or no discount.  I promised him that we would have our answer within a week.

The tone changed totally at that point from friendly to hardcore sales barraging.  We were somewhat stunned but continued to tell the salesman that having no previous knowledge of their company, product and pricing, we would not spend that amount of money without doing our homework first.

He continued his somewhat bullying tone and we realized what kind of company we were dealing with and have no more interest in buying anything from them.  These people rang our doorbell and we don't need someone pushing us around in our own living room.  And if their product and pricing was so good, why would they fear us checking around?

Anyway, the salesman left in a huff and didn't even leave a phone number.

I highly encourage readers to do a search here for Duramade and read some of the installation complaints.   I count myself lucky that we are not susceptible to pushy  sales techniques and pitty older people who are easier bullied.

The filed report is not from a CUSTOMER; however it is from a disgruntled employee who is no longer with the company.

The first thing you will notice is that the individual who filed this report did not identify himself, and the phone numbers that are used are not the accurate numbers for myself as the owner or Duramade Windows & Doors.

Furthermore, this individual was released from employment by the organization for not following policies and procedures outlined in our sales and company manuals.
