Beware of interviewing with this company!
I found them on Craigslist. Of course, you have to call, not send in your resume. That should have been my first clue.
When I got there, I had some concerns for my safety, should I have hired. When I got inside, I looked at the directory, as I had forgotten the company name. Matched up the Suite # with what I had been given. It was for some mortgage company. Can't remember now. Something like Americorp Mortgage. It was a name I'd heard before.
So I go upstairs, and I have to check in with the receptionist who is across the hall from the other half of the office. Strange. Then, there is no logo behind the receptionist 'Teddy' (female). Then they have all these 'papers' displayed from different Chamber of Commerce's. They had a different name. Stranger.
Office seemed pretty beat up too. So I'm thinking maybe they just moved in.
I met with Robert (RJ). I came in for an Administrative position, but he was excited by my resume and wanted me for a sales position. I pretty much turned him down because was a commission only position, and he proceeded with a sales pitch. Was pretty good. He seemed really nice, but I have NO interest in sales.
Was telling me that the minimum their sales people make is $1k/mo up to $12k/mo! However, for an Admin position, they're only paying $1600/mo. What the H***?!
Kept turning him down for sales, and then for the admin, once I found out the salary. I had asked before I scheduled the interview, to make sure I didn't waste my time. 'Teddy' didn't know.
So 'RJ' goes and gets the 'sales managers' to try and pitch me on taking a sales position. Telling me it's so easy. Everyone is pre-qualified and ALL I would have to do is 're-qualify' them. They also went into what they pay for commission and how much higher it is than every other company out there. It sounded WAY too good to be true, so of course I started getting suspicious. I finally made it out of there by telling them I wanted time to think about their pitch and let them konw if it was a position I was willing to consider.
They were all practically drooling over my experience.
Just another lesson learned. Whe applying on Craigslist, beware of companies that don't want you to send in your resume ahead of time, and contacts who know nothing about the position. You just have to show up.
