Dynamark Security Centers Deceptive Selling Practices & Poor Service Jacksonville Florida

Dynamark (a home security system company) used deceptive selling practices to obtain our signature on a three-year monitoring contract that was actually misrepresented to us as a one-year contract - which we paid in full up front in August 2007 ($289.41). This cost was on top of the money paid to Dynamark for purchase and installation of the system ($212.93). We already had an alarm system installed, so they replaced two keypads and parts of the panel.

Following our sign up we were then charged $75 per service call for any problem with our system (which we have since discovered is not the common practice of other alarm companies in this area who service their systems for free as part of the monitoring agreement). In addition, our alarm was accidentally set off twice in the year monitored by Dynamark and they never called our home to ask about the alarm signal.

This August we called Dynamark to let them know we would not renew our contract, which for the past year we believed to be a 12-month contract. This is when Lisa informed us that the contract was for three years and she refused to cancel it.

We reviewed our contract and discovered the service man who presented it to us as a one-year contract had left the number of years blank and had only filled in the monthly price. In very small print further down on the contract it states that unless otherwise specified the terms of the contract were for three years.

This contract was cleverly written to be deceptive and was verbally misrepresented to us. Now Dynamark is demanding we pay the remaining two years of our contract ($578.82), yet we no longer wish to do business with this ineffective and deceptive company.

We want our monitoring contract with Dynamark cancelled without having to pay the remaining two years of the deceptive contract.
