We were returning from Yellowstone and headed to Denver to pick up I-70 to take home to Kansas City. We took E-470 as a shortcut to I-70 and noticed the "Toll Signs" but was not afforded the opportunity to entered one where we could pay a toll. We reached I-70 and headed east. This was on September 19, 2013. Saturday, Feburary 15th, 2014 (5 months latter) we received a letter from Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP, Denver, CO. Inside was a "Second Notice Of Outstandi...ng Liability". At first I just thought it was a typical scam. However, the scam appeared to be awfully blatant, so I read more. The "License Plate Tool Statement" advised that we must have gone through Plaze E South and Plaza C South and that each Plaza charged $9.75 for a total of $19.50. If we would have seen a Toll Gate, we would have simply paid our toll. We were in our pickup pulling a toy hauler.

The "Second Notice of Outstanding Liability" is interesting. We have never received the FIRST NOTICE. So, I then went into your computer system and entered the Statement ID #. What came up was 4 more E-470 statement dated 10/4; 11/4; 12/4; 2013, and 01/04; and 2/04, 2014. These appears to be E-470 notices that we never received. Now, it appears that the law offices out of Denver sent out a Notice and all of a sudden we do get that one. Now, it also appears that the Toll has now gone from $19.50 all the up to $54.25 due to collection fees and penalties. It also advised that I have until March 3rd, to pay the fine or it will go up even more. Please be advised that to date, the only notice I have ever received regarding the E-470 was from a law office 5 month after the toll incurred. I have researched E-470 on the internet and now find that what is happening to me has happen to other individuals who are not familiar to your E-470 procedures. I would like to know why I did not received any notices from you and only receive a (one) notice from the law firm. I would also like to know why it would take a law firm 5 months to send out a notice when a toll has gone from $19.50 to $54.25. I have presented the facts as I know them, and will be contacting your office Tuesday 2/18 to try and resolve this issue. Hopefully something can be done to prevent other unsuspecting travelers from getting entangled in this very bureaucratic and unique situation. If anyone in your E-470 organization advises that they sent me any License Plate Toll Statements in accordance to the dates and times listed, they are very much mistaken. See More

I called the E-470 today regarding my on going E-470 delimina. The AGENTS (?) were very polite and professional. On 8/26/2013 returning from Yellowstone to Kansas City, we traveled the E-470 for 15.28 minutes. The Denver law firm send a SECOND NOTICE - I never got the first notice. E-470 said they sent me FIVE notices, never received one of them. Today, the E-470 advised me that they added ...another gate to my bill in December making that 3 gates I went through. So, my original bill went from $19.50 for two gates to $34.25 for three gates. Bringing my bill to $9.75 per gate plus a late charge of $5.00 for a current bill of $34.25. Still have not received any E-470 statements. This Denver law firm however send me a bill for $54.25 as they added a $20.00 collection fee. Bottom line, the E-470 AGENTS ( I spoke to three of them), took off the $20.00 collection fee but the $5.00 late fee will stay in play. So, my final bill will be the 3 gate charge of $29.25 plus the $5.00 late fee for a total $34.25. I paid it with a credit card so I could show proof of payment. I also read that some people received another bill have they paid the first bill. And, if you can't prove payment, guess what. So, I got ripped of $5.00 but learn a very hard lesson. I knew the state of Colorado is totally liberal, but this need to be fixed. Taking money from out of state travelers to redistribute our wealth into Colorado is wrong. I strongly recommend OUT OF STATE drivers to avoid the E-470 no matter what. To find out why and to heard other horror stories, just google E-470 and starting reading about other out of state drivers who did not receive any statements from E-470. The first thing you will probably received is a Denver law firm SECOND NOTICE - But, you will not have received the first notice. This needs to stop as it is causing mental anguish to those of us who are subject to these tactics. See More

Same exact thing just happened to me. They say they send me FIVE Statements. The only correspondence was a SECOND Notice statement I got from some law firm out of Denver. I didn't even get their First Notice. Why is the operations not being investigated. Out of State drivers are falling within this trap everyday. I know that Colorado is bleeding heart liberal, but what a terrible way to redistribute the wealth into Colorado.
