Earthsearch GPS tracking system was installed in my car -$400 investment. President of Earthsearch wanted my SSN to set up an account for monthly service, but didn't need it for (1) yearly payment - $275 investment ($675 invested from day 1). This is the 3rd system, from Earthsearch, that has been installed and all 3 have been cancelled and returned due to problems with the system and services at Earthsearch.
Earthsearch computer system wouldn't pick up my car once the system was installed. Earthsearch sent a technician to replace my unit with a different unit (without consulting the original installer - this will be important later). Technician left my car unable to start and had to come back the next day to repair his own installation.
Over the next month, I spent hours trying working with Earthsearch to get the system to function. In addition, they added cell phone texting to my account for free, despite my dispute that their brochure says nothing about texting warnings being additional charges.
I have documentation of the complete situation from beginning to end- including:
*Over 60 emails to the president, customer service, account manager, director of operations and numerous technical support personnel.
*Hours of documented phone conversations with the same people.
In the end, Earthsearch agreed that they couldn't get the system to function properly, and the president was not willing to stand behind his product. In the end, as a last effort to resolve their dilemma, Earthsearch was willing to invite me to their office for a visit and show me their company, but not refund my investment in a faulty product.
After turning over all of the documentation to American Express for a dispute resolution, they decided to refund my $275.00 yearly service fee. Earthsearch's president would not acknowledge that they accepted responsibility for refunding the $400 system, even though they chose to replace it without involvement of the original installer. I, along with the original installer and their other customers are trying to inform others of the potential problems that may be present by purchasing from this company.
I have never seen a company so "customer UNfriendly" in my life, from the CEO on down to the technical support manager (one note the tech support guy I worked with was great, but was also quitting the company shortly after my situation).
I have since sold the car, with the system in it, with the understanding from the new owner, that sooner or later I will have to get the system removed. The installer, Maw and Paw Keyttle, has also filed reports and is in dispute with the company of all 5 systems that they initially purchased for resell. I am also filing with the BBB and FTC.

#1 UPDATE Employee
False filings same individual

Earthsearch Communication is one of the largest GPS service provider n GA. The file wanted our cell phone application to be included in is service fr free and we declined to do so because it cost us charges fro nthe wireless carriers so we do not offer it for free, there is $4.99 charge per month for the use as it cost us sms charges.
Of course it will not work, unless we activate the service and we did not because he refused to pay for it. THAT IS THE REAL STORY.
Maw and Paw kettle a distributor, who sold and installed the product for the filer was the real culprit as they failed to advise him of the fees for cell phone application. We offered him a refund out of courtesy and Brian knows it. He is angry because we would not give him the service free of charge.
As any other business, there will be satisfied and unsatisfied customers, to allow a legitimate business to be listed as a rip off and their credibility tarnished is quite a disservice in our opinion to the community at large.
Interestingly, both reports on this forum came from Newnan GA, which seems like the same individual who may be trying to create an appearance of the company that is not true. Worse still is cowardly enough not to reveal his full identity.
In the 4 years we have been in business we have had a handful of compalints from customers who either want our cell phone application for free, (there is monthly charge for it) or who do not understand how GPS technology works, (it does loose signal or wireless carrier interference). We prefer to issues refunds when a customer is not happy, we are not in busness to rip anyone off, we are one of the largest providers in Georgia and we do have a significant number of satisfied customers. The writer also contradicted the objective of the site, when he claimed that he was refunded his money. Like any organization we do have refund policy and cancellation policies for unjustified cancellations. A comopany that issue refund is not a rip off. if that is a criteria for a rip off, so would be a lot of fortune 100 companies.
In reading the filings, we conclude this was a customer who felt our cell pone application which allows you to manage your vehicle from your cell phone should be free and we decline to provide it free of charge.
It is unfortunate that this forum which is intended to protect consumers from fraudulent businesses can be abused for selfish interest. We beleive the editor of the site with all good intentions has an obligation to prevent unfair and biased accusations. Small business play a very important role in our society, provide more than 50% of employment in this country and to allow their credibility to be damaged at will is unconscionable.
The intention of the site is noble but the process is flawed.
