I acquired drawing tickets in the mail for a free bed through Easy Rest. I filled them out and mailed them. A couple of weeks later, I receive a call from a sales representative wanting to come to the house to do a presentation. I agreed and on February 26, 2018 a sales rep came to our home and proceeded to give us a presentation and demonstration about the Easy Rest Bed and how it would operate.  When we were told the price of the bed which was close to $10,000.00, we both said no and then the sales rep called his boss and they came back with a better offer because of our family being in the military. The contract was written up in both of our names for $6,140.32 with delivery and sales tax to a grand total of $6,996.00 minus the deposit of $250.00 for a balance of $6746.00. The Notice of Cancellation stated "you may cancel this transaction, without any Penalty or Obligation, with Five Business Days from the above date. If you cancel, you must make available to the seller at your residence, any goods delivered to you under this written agreement etc etc.

We had until March 5th, 2018 to cancel and tried to do it prior to that date when we called them to let them know that my husband just lost his full time job. While unemployed, my husband took a bad fall that landed him in the hospital. He now has medical bills totalling $9000.00. He just acquired a full time job a month ago making $11.00 an hour which is not enough to cover all of the expenses we have. Easy Rest promptly told us they do not take beds back at all and we had to honor the contract. On September 13, 2018 I received a letter threatening to turn my account over to collections if the 2 payments that are due are not paid within 20 days of the date of the letter and they will insist on the full balance of $8965.85. Preferred Credit, Inc. reported $6,746.00 to all 3 credit reporting agencies back in February and yet today, they are still billing me for the balance of $8965.85 as the sole owner of this bed that I stated on numerous occasions that I never wanted and wasn't working out for me. PCI has ruined my credit scores and Easy Rest is clearly getting away with everything. It deeply disturbs me that a company can take advantage of senior citizens like they did with us and not have any compassion whatsoever. I don't want to see this company do this to anyone else.
