EBSI, Inc Aka: MYTELESERVICES.com Charges for this company appeared on my recent SBCAmeritech telephone bill as a "one-time set-up fee". When I called I was relayed to another telephone number. Qhen asked who this company is and who authorized the charges I was told that this was for a 1-800 serivce where you can call anyone anytime and talk for however long. NA NA

When asked who they were and how the charge was authorized I was told the order was placed via the internet, and was given the email address that proportedly authorized the charge to the home telephone bill.

Then she explained that two emails were set to self-same email adress to confirm the order placed was legitimate before the charge was placed on the telephone bill.

One: The email address is mine; however, I never ever ever make long distance calls. I have no need to do so. Two: the email address did not recieve any email confirmations, I even checked deleted and spam email boxes and there was nothing on the dates she gave me. Three: I believe this is connected to an online survey, given the information I was able to gleen from the service representative. I do not ever fill out surveys but I remember being on a legitimate website and questions appeared that I realized was in a survey form and I realized it was not something I wanted to complete and submit. Although I closed out of the link, it was enough for them to complete the phoney order for services.

I confirmed that a credit will be applied to the account within 2 billing cycles and no further charges will be charged, but to be sure....

I contacted SBCAmeritech and placed the charge in dispute. She had a hard time finding the code, but located it under "myteleservices, inc." In addition, there is a permanent block on my telephone account so that no future charges will be added "slammed" from this or any other company.

In addition to this I am completing a complaint to the Attorney General of my state to investigate their practices, as well as the FTC.
