ECPI Technical School Considering ECPI, Here's a Common Story Ripoff Virginia Beach Virginia

Back in 98 I decided to change careers. I enjoyed working with my PC so much I decided to get a job in I.T. After much research I mistakenly decided to attend ECPI.

My decision was based on what I was told by the recruiter/lien-sales-scum. He stated that ECPI would not only prepare

me for a career in I.T., but they would assist me in finding a job to get through school. I confirmed this with the placement folks.

Long story short, I paid thousands for an education that was worth about $50. I was taught outdated technology by mostly worthless instructors. And, of course, the promise to help me find employment was broken also. I got a job on my own, but it forced me to move from day classes to nights. Ultimately, I had to drop altogether to get a second job.

As for education, I resorted to buying books and learning on my own. I worked on certifications to substitute for education. I got my M.C.S.E. (of marginal value), my CCNA, CCDA, and ultimately CCNP. I'm currently pursueing CCIE.

Well, fancy this. Seven years later ECPI suddenly has some lawyer morons contact me trying to collect more money!! Their reasoning is that because I didn't finish, they had to repay loans. Rumor has it that I signed something saying I would pay in this situation. We'll see how that works out!

I am now in the top 5% earnings-wise in my field. I have a very successful I.T. career. This is in spite of ECPI, not because of them. If you're considering a career in I.T., my suggestion would be to go get some books and work on certifications on your own.

Some folks are successful as a result of attending ECPI. I can assure you these folks have the base skills to achieve success in I.T. regardless of training path chosen. I work with plenty of folks who have a near identical story. I have never met anyone who has graduated ECPI.

Bottom line, ECPI took advantage of me when I was in a very financially weak position. As everyone says, they are a business, not a learning institution.
