We bough and built a home with Edge Homes several months ago.  During the process, we were assured that they would provide and honor a warranty to cover several items.  We asked for a written copy of the warranty, what was included, what is excluded, etc.  They were never able to come up with anything in writing.

We were assured by the builder assigned to our home that they were very good about warranty items, and would take care of any issues that came up in the future during the warranty period.

Well, fast forward a few months, and we now have several small claim items to get repaired under warranty.  Where's this great service we heard about?  Nowhere.  Have nails coming out of the drywall causing the paint to crack and flake?  Not their problem.  Have cracks in the basement concerete big enough to stick a several keys into?  Not there problem.  Got a drain with a moldy smell that won't go away?  Not there problem.  Got weatherstriping falling off the door?  Not there problem.

Bottom line - Be aware that Edge Homes does not honor their warranty.  They will get out of it one way or another.  They pick and choose what they fix, what is covered, and what is not covered - as if by their own whim.  No ryhme or reason to it.  You'll save time (not money) by just fixing these items yourself where possible, because hunting down the Edge warranty guy and getting them to take action is nearly a total waste of your time.

revenge

AUTHOR: Jeanski - ()

My builder did essentially the same thing. When my mailbox fell over I asked him to fix it and he said it was my problem. This was Day 2 (!) of owning the home. There were other small issues he wouldn't address as well. So I got revenge :-)

We had moved into a new subdivision that was getting ready for a "Parade of Homes" highlighting the different homes offered by my builder.  I went out and bought the most garish mailbox I could find - a large, neon-colored fish!

My builder said it wasn't "up to code" and had to be removed.  I held my ground until he replaced it.  By then I was out $100 for a stupid mailbox.  So I erected a sign in my yard that said "This lemon of a house built by ..." It worked :-)  He fixed everything I asked him to!
