Edwards Concrete Paid half for project, now getting runaround from contractor to start on project Topeka Kansas

Well we gave this guy $1500.00 to do part of the project, after him calling us two different times saying he really needed the work. Of course he had to go on a trip out of state for a concrete job. Well when he was to be back you could not get a hold of the guy, until today 4/17/09. Also that's after calling the two phone numbers in the phone book, but both numbers were disconnected. That's not a good sign. Got ahold of him finally on his cell phone, and he asked me if I saw the rain in the forcast for tommorrow? I said yes, but the ground is dry, and you should have enough time to get here, and get at least get the framing done. I got off the phone with him, and for the second time in a row, he did not say bye when he hung up. That alone gives me a red flag of what kind of person he really is. He was so willing to come over and get the money to buy supplies for the project, and have my wife sign a contract, while I was at work, which he also never left a copy with her. That is another red flag. I will be showing up at his house in person another week if I see nothing done asking for our $1500 back. I also may be serving him papers also, if I don't get my money back, if nothing is done. That may be a waste of time. It will be my mission to spread his name & company all over the internet for not doing a job he has been paid to get started on. Don't go with this person. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB. next Friday if I don't see no action, or my money back by next Friday the 24th. I have a copy of our check we wrote him, but that's about all we have to prove. I do not like the feeling of being taken advantage of. Noconcrete Auburn, Kansas
