Well over a year ago I hired an internet company to prepare amendments to my 2004, 2005, and 2006 taxes. I was in Hawaii and I wanted a company from near my hometown in South Carolina that would help me straighten things out. Biggest mistake I've ever made. I paid this company a lot of money to represent me and they did at first. I got calls and emails constantly, and a time-line with which they'd prepare the best "resolution" for me, with the IRS. Once I had paid them though it was a totally different story. My tax resolution specialist a Mr. Walter Wallace wouldn't return my calls or emails for months. When he finally did (only after persistent badgering of his voicemail or secretary) it was always a very brief and superficial conversation. He'd tell me that they still needed a piece of information or form from me that I'd already sent them months ago. He finally got fed up with my calls and my insisting that I'd sent him all necessary information and pawned me off to another "specialist". A Ms. Sharon Raines was very nice and seemed like she was somewhat interested in helping me. She did return some of my calls and emails over the course of another 6 months. Again though, only after some badgering would she do this and when the day finally arrived that she had supposedly prepared my amendments, I was shocked. She had first of all had to get information from me concerning 2004 stock trades made via Etrade, because for some reason they couldn't seem to find any of the lengthy account records on Etrade's website, even after I provided them my user login/password several time and told them precisely where to look. Ms. Raines had taken the very rough figures that I myself had to compile, and completely and quite falsely, made them look as though I had a $10,000 loss for the year. I couldn't believe my eyes. Not only had I insisted I had made a net profit of $50,000+ in trades that year, none of my figures were used. She had seemingly just pulled these numbers out of the air. I called to ask here where she got these numbers from, but again she was apparently on vacation according to her secretary. Only after another month or so did I receive an unusual email from Mr. Wallace saying that Ms. Raines had taken a 90 day leave of absence and a Mr. Cecil Ryman would now be taking over for her. Which he did and seemed very sorry for all the trouble and time with which it had taken Effectur to prepare my taxes. He returned all my calls and actually answered the phone when in the office. He used the actual rough numbers that I had give Ms. Raines and within a day or two of taking over for her had done what Effectur hadn't been able to do in 14 months. He got me returns for which I was to sign off on for all the years I had contracted Effectur to provide. I was so distraught with the events Effectur had put me through and so ready for this nightmare to be over I signed off on the returns and quickly returned them to Mr. Wallace who said they were to be mailed back to him signed. Now the coup de grace! While waiting for the news that they'd received my returns and that they were on their way to the IRS, I get an email saying that Effectur has been foreclosed on by the bank!! That they will be handing over all representation of my affairs to a Lighthouse Tax Solutions, LLC. That I am to sign over my legal matters to them. I really don't know what to do now. I am out thousands of dollars and have nothing to show for it. I am writing this in the hopes that someone can tell me what I should do. Thanks for nothing Effectur.

Effectur is DEAD!

I too was ripped off by Effectur.
The detail of your report is helpful but hard to take in because you have written one long continuous page- using paragraphs to separate sections would be helpful.
In the instructions here it says: "DO NOT write your report all in one paragraph. Use 2 or 3 sentences to each paragraph and leave a space between each paragraph."
But my kids do the same thing... ;-)
Your statements about Effectur being foreclosed on and the transfer to Lighthouse Tax Solutions, LLC. is GREAT NEWS !!!
Seems that Effectur was run internally just as well as they treated their customers.
I went to there former site and this is what I found- might be of interest to those reading these postings:
The bank foreclosed due to difficult economic times.
What does this mean to my case (Is there anyone to help me?)
A group of concerned former employees of Effectur started a new, unrelated company in order to make sure the current active clients of Effectur receive the services for which they engaged the company to perform. You can reach them at admin@lighthousetaxes.com.
What happened to the money I paid for services?
The bank foreclosed on Effectur and seized all assets including the money paid on your account. There appears to be no money available for unsecured creditors.
Can Lighthouse perform the same services as Effectur?
Yes, the employees have extensive experience with the exact same tax matters you are facing.
What if I need additional services?
You can contact a consultant at Lighthouse Tax Solutions, LLC and they can set you up with any additional services needed. Please email consultant@lighthousetaxes.com.
Do I have to continue to pay payments I owe to Effectur?
Yes. In order for lighthouse Taxes to provide support and operate, any outstanding payments that were due to Effectur will now be due to lighthouse tax Solutions, LLC.
What if my questions are still not addressed?
You may send an email to admin@lighthousetaxes.com and it will be answered within 24 hours.
Does Lighthouse tax Solutions have contact information or a website?
You may email Lighthouse Tax Solutions at admin@lighthousetaxes.com or consultant@lighthousetaxes.com. Their website is currently under construction.
