Today, I received a letter from Spain, specifically from El Gordo Spanish Sweepstakes Lottery, C/Carraca No3 Piso 1-A, 08905 Barcelona-Spain. The letter stated that my name was entered into the international lottery in Rep. of Panama and that the case has been transferred to the head office in Spain. (How or when did this happen, I don't know) It says that my name was attached to ticket number 14-32-52-71-75-93 with batch number of 24/00319/IPD has been chosen as one of the 19 international winners.
It mentioned that I have won 445,130.00 in cash credited to file Ref No: EGS/26510460037/02 from total cash price of 8,457,470.00 (The sums do add up correctly).
The funds were deposited in a segregated account in BANCO SANTANDER under my name. ( I check on this bank, it does exist). It also says that due to some error in the numbers and names, the issue must be kept confidential until the claims are remitted into the designated account of my choice.
It advised to complete the payment processing form (The form requested for my full details with my Banking information) and fax it to the international toll free number at 003469 2562373 and also contact my claim agent FERNANDO ROMERO of SANTALUCIA SEGUROS S.A., C/Silva #21 Planta Baja, 28003 Barcelona, Espana, on Tel: 0034 605456790.
It says that the price money must be claimed not later than March 15, 2006, after which the funds will be returned to the Ministry de Economic y Hacienda as unclaimed.
The letter was signed by Maria Fabrica, Lottery Award Board Director.
What a scam.. I have never heard of the El Gordo Spanish Sweepstakes Lottery and don't even know how the got may name and address correct.
The next thing I did was to get the details of this El Gordo Spanish Sweepstakes Lottery in the web and found RIP-OFF report.com. www.ripoffreport.com Thank God! The same rip-off case was highlighted. Otherwise, I would have replied to the mail and would have got RIPPED-OFF!
