First off, let me say that I am mad at myself for not checking Ripoff Report BEFORE going to Eldorado Motors Tulsa because I would've seen the multiple reports showing their business tactics and I would've steered clear.

A couple of months ago, my wife needed a van to do the normal daily errands with the kids and I do not have good credit, and hers is better but just has medical stuff on there.  Anyways, I've know about Eldorado for many years and how they pretty much finance anybody as long as you have a job.  So, we went there and found a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan that was in really good shape, or so we thought.  The exterior was great, and interior as well, but the problems that were lurking under the hood and throughout the chassis were hiding.  I am a pretty knowledgeable person when it comes to vehicle troubleshooting and repair and I know how to check things out when looking to buy a vehicle, which I did.

We took it for a test drive and everything was actually working good, didn't notice anything wrong at that point.  We went back to the dealership and started the purchase paperwork.  We were approved and drove the van home.  Now, within a week of using it, some things started going amiss.  The van felt like something was dragging it down which was really hurting the MPG.  Come to find out, the parking brake cable was tighter than it should've been.  Then, we were on a highway and rolled down the window to pay a toll, and the driver window would not roll back up, it was stuck wayyyy down into the door.  It took a few minutes to slowly get it to push up in small increments, as if the motor was "tired" and could just do a push every now and then.

We also noticed the brakes started grinding when coming to a stop, along with a loss of pedal pressure when stopped at stoplights, causing the van to roll forward ever so slightly and if you aren't paying attention, you could roll into the car in front of you, you would have to push the brake pedal even more (my guess is air in the brake lines).  On top of that, the blinker/wiper control lever was malfunctioning, sometimes when you turn left blinker on it would blink right and vice versa, and the wipers would randomly work or not work, or go full blast or not go at the speed we want basically.

Adding to this, the radiator leaked really bad, I was putting $100 worth of coolant in there a month, having to fill it with two gallons per week, sometimes more.  This of course caused the heater to not work.  There were more problems than these but this is getting long.  We took it to the service department over 6 times now, having to leave it there for days and when we'd get it back, maybe one things is fixed but others remain.  This latest time we took it in, they replaced the radiator, put new brakes on, put new wiper/blinker lever on and returned it to us.  Well, they broke some more things with that, so now our A/C doesn't work, the power steering is jacked up (looks like it's boiling when the engine is running) and makes loud noise when turning, something new is leaking under the van, and the HVAC system is acting weird, like throwing error codes on the actual HVAC display screen.  That is the story of the vehicle problems, mechanically.

Now to the employees and business practices.  The actual salesperson we worked with was great,  he knew his job and did it good.  The problems arose when we were accidently one day late with payment, I started getting harassing phone calls from them saying you MUST pay now, this is a new loan and we can't let this happen.  So what, it's one day, the world isn't going to end!  Well, things happen in life and sometimes you can't make payment on time, and the whole every two weeks payment crap really throws off our finances and each time a payment would come around and I couldn't make it the day of, I would immediately get the texts and phone calls from their payment ladies and they are just very rude and disrespectful.

This latest time we had the van in for service, my wife went to pick it up and at that exact day, I was two days late and got paid on the 3rd day which would've gone to them, but they wouldn't release the van unless it's paid.  My wife had to go to the payment ladies and they literally harassed HER about where I'm working, how much I get paid, how often do I get paid, and so forth, and this really angered me.  She doesn't know that stuff, and again, it's TWO DAYS late, SERIOUSLY!!!  I don't really think you are going to go out of business if I don't make my payment on time and are a few days late.  Even a few months and yall would still be good, but of course it'd be repo'd by then.  Long story short, they don't care about us customers as people, they only care about getting paid and nothing else.

Lastly, the purchase price is OUTRAGEOUS!!!  For our van, it was over $5000 above blue book value.  This is where they really screw people, make you suffer for mistakes in your past (whether in or out of your control) by price gouging their vehicles cost, AND to top it off, they sell you unsafe and unreliable pieces of crap that they obviously DO NOT inspect, or maybe they do, but I can assure you, their mechanics are crap and are not ASE certified.

Well, that's it from me.  I will be trying to get out of this van the nice way, and still keep my payments going while doing so, but if I have to get a lawyer involved, I will.  Don't shop at Eldorado Motors Tulsa, not sure if the other ones do better business, but I can say the Tulsa one will never get my, nor anybody I knows', business again.

"  I am a pretty knowledgeable person when it comes to vehicle troubleshooting and repair and I know how to check things out when looking to buy a vehicle, which I did.  "

When buying an old used vehicle, the single most important thing to do is to have it inspected by a qualified mechanic before buying.     You think you're pretty knowledgable, but it is plainly obvious that you have no idea how to do a pre-purchase inspection.    I'll bet that $100 you saved on the inspection is looking like a pretty small number right about now.

" you would have to push the brake pedal even more (my guess is air in the brake lines). "

Air in the brake line would cause the pedal to go to the floor when you applied it.  What you describe resembles a master cylinder with worn seals.   But hey, who am I to question an expert such as yourself?

" I started getting harassing phone calls from them saying you MUST pay now, this is a new loan and we can't let this happen.  So what, it's one day, the world isn't going to end!  "

Your cavalier attitude towards on time payments are the main reason you have to buy old, beat up cars at places like this.

" each time a payment would come around and I couldn't make it the day of, I would immediately get the texts and phone calls from their payment ladies and they are just very rude and disrespectful.  "

You're dealing with a lender that specializes in financing people who are chronically delinquent.  You admit that you are chronically late with payments.   Do you understand that you are hanging off the bottom rung of the financing ladder and that this is how business is normally conducted in the sub-prime market?

"  Lastly, the purchase price is OUTRAGEOUS!!!  For our van, it was over $5000 above blue book value.   "

Why would anyone in their right mind pay $5K over blue book for a broken down 11 year old van?  You were the one who signed on for this outrageous price (no doubt at an outrageous interest rate).     Kind of hard to blame the seller for something that you readily agreed to.

Here's a tip.   If you could afford the absurd amount that this ridiculous deal is costing you, you could have waited a few months and paid cash for a decent car.   Only rich people can afford the kind of cash outlay you've signed up for.    Seek financial counselling right away.
