I needed a car that was reliable for my wife to drive and we dont have the best credit so we were looking for a buy here pay here kind of place. I got a quick approval for the loan and wanted a zero downpayment so that limited me to their lower end cars but the car that I purchased from them was worth between 4000 and 6000 and since it was not perfect it was closer to the 4000 side. I was charged 10500 for this 12 year old car. I was sold it as is with a 12 month 12000 mile POWER TRAIN warranty. Immediately I had to start fixing little things and I did because the stuff was cheap to fix but the repairs didnt end, they kept on and on. finally I had enough and decided to go find something else and return the car to them. guess what? They informed me that I had signed a contract and that if I returned the car that they would sell it at auction and then bill me the remaining balance and if I didnt take care of it then they would garnish my wages. So I would give them back their car and still be forced to pay for it. now they said I had a 12 month warranty but I said that was a POWER TRAIN and had nothing to do with other repairs. So I tried to reason with them and see if there was any way out of it but they were hard core and basicly said they would get theirs no matter what it took.

As it stands now they are lowering my payments at zero interest for 3 months and supposedly fixing the major things wrong with the car and are gong to charge me in addition to my outrageious loan but at zero interest. They say they will lower my payments but it only extends the loan and then I will be paying more interest. so I am waiting to see if they can help me if you can call any of this help, I have had family members who had vehicles from a dealer with a good reputation that had to give the cars back and they took them without the threats and if they couldnt make it right they just took them back and let that be the end. They wouldnt even let us trade it in for something else because they were going to tack on what I owed beyond the value of the car to the next loan. wow thanks that really helps.

bottom line if you go there i PROMISE you they will get you into something but it will be in bad condition and at least 200% over the cars value at the highest interest rate allowed and its a deal with the devil because you will never get out of it.

You must be kidding!

'  the car that I purchased from them was worth between 4000 and 6000 and since it was not perfect it was closer to the 4000 side. I was charged 10500 for this 12 year old car.  "

Who told you it would be a good idea to pay 2.5 times as much as the car was worth?   Are you nuts?  By the way,  you weren't charged  $10.5K for this clunker, you AGREED TO PAY this ridiculous amount and signed your name to the contract.   Just out of curiosity, if they had wanted you to pay 3 or 4 times the value of the car, would you still have signed?

So I tried to reason with them and see if there was any way out of it  "

It's a 12 year old clunker.   Most have a lot of mechanical problems.   Why you think the dealer should be the least bit interested in fixing your car is beyond me.  Perhaps you should have had it inspected by a mechanic before you bought it (like most rational people do).

" finally I had enough and decided to go find something else and return the car to them.  "

You've got to be kidding.   This is not a rental car.   You BOUGHT this car.  You signed a contract that said you would pay a ridiculous amount for this car.   What made you think you could just give it back without consequences?   You really need to start reading what you sign.

"  I have had family members who had vehicles from a dealer with a good reputation that had to give the cars back and they took them without the threats and if they couldnt make it right they just took them back and let that be the end.  "

Either your family members live in a different universe, or they owed less on the vehicles than they were worth.    If you seriously think a dealer is going to absorb a huge loss on a car that they sold months ago, you just kidding yourself.

The real problem here is that you have absolutely no clue about how to buy a used car.   It's not that difficult.   I strongly suggest that you take a few minutes out of your busy life and put "how to buy a used car" into your favorite search engine.    Though you may have completely screwed yourself on this deal, you will save yourself thousands in the future.
