On August 26th I was called by a guy informing me that I had won a holiday via my Mastercard,6 days and nights in Cancun, 5 days and 4 nights in Orlando, flights, accomodation and meals all included, for 4 people. All I had to pay was $699 for US taxes, which was to be somewhere in the region of 390.
I stupidly thought I was safe enough by taking the man's name (Maz Stallone) company name, (www.MCS Holidays.com) and contact number, (1800 943 3450). I was given a PIN number to confirm details of the transaction. I was suspicious enough at the time to ask and was put through to what was supposed to be the representative of an independant body.
In retrospect I think that this was just another person at the same call centre. Having given my card details to cover the supposed taxes, I immediately contacted Companies House to see if MCS Holidays were registered: they weren't. I rang the number I had been given and got through to Littlewoods Catalogue, who have nothing to do with it. And on Sep 23rd '08, 391.14 was taken out of my Citi credit card account by Elite Financial Services Cancun Qroo, Mexico.
