The Emachines' redemption program is unreliable. so far they've sent me two broken Acer Aspire desktops. After receiving the first one with a cracked monitor screen I was put through a convoluted process of getting return labels, sending photos of the damage, and waiting for a replacement computer. The packaging for tis computer was very shoddy. Also there was none of the typical paperwork to help a user diet started, like the QuickStart poster with basic instructions. Extra components like the monitor and mouse were loose in the package. There was no packing material inside the box to prevent damage in shipment.

Today, after a lowit await, I finally got the replacement. It was packaged just as poorly I spite of my clear description of the packaging problemin with the previous shipmepho this second computer was cracked worse than the previous one.

The only phone number provide was to warranty support, not the people who'd sent the computer. I called that number and they wanted to put me through the same convoluted procedure all over again. I told them I wanted to cancel the order and just get the $120 Id sent them plus the $62 cash redemption offered in the lawsuit settlement. The supervisor that I'd talked my way into talking to told me that I couldn't do that once I'd made an initial order, even if I got two more cracked computers shipped to me.

I guess that I'm just at their mercy. They've got my money.

No card required

AUTHOR: depaul - ()

POSTED: Friday, November 29, 2013

Just ordered my 359.99 UR33. No credit card required. The 15.49 in shipping charges were wiped out by a 15.49 promotional credit that was automatically entered during the checkout process. I never entered a credit card number. It has an option to enter a card number for any charges that could exceed the 365.00 credit. In my case it also showed a notice in green informing me that the 365.00 credit would cover the total in my cart.

If you are trying to decide between the ur33 and ur34, I noticed that the ur34 did not show a wireless 802.11 but the ur33 did.  I will update when it arrives and I get it hooked up.

More Secondipity Scammery

AUTHOR: tfiks - ()

POSTED: Monday, September 30, 2013

After sending the second Acer Aspire computer back because its monitor was cracked, I received a third one with a cracked monitor. This was almost a week after the Secondipidy Company supervisor at the site (who gave his name as Joe Galvin) had promised to take care of the problem and overnight ship an intact computer the next day.

Last week Secondipidy offered a better computer for no additional cost. I emailed my decision to accept the costlier computer and request a UPS return label.

Nothing, no response. This morning (Monday) I called them and asked what happened. The call center persoat agreed to send a shipping label immediately. An hour later I check my inbox and the email is there--with NO ATTACHED shipping label.

If ayone knows who Secondipity answers to in this whole Emachines redemption lawsuit, I'd certainly like to know who it is.

emachinesredeem ships broken computers

I ordered my Acer 23" all in one Aug 16,2013 with a redemption certificate and $124.  It was receivd the same way, no packing, and a cracked monitor. Cust. svc gave me instructions to send photos and emailed shipping labels UPS. after 3 wks,I rec'd a "replacement, which was the same computer with the same cracked monitor screen, plus more cracks. both times there was no packing and parts loose in the box. In fact it looked like the whole box was dropped kicked at the Garland TX facility.

A phone call to customer svc@ secondipity. Gave me runaround about send photos, sent me UPS shipping label, sd have put an Acer 23" all in one on reserve to send out when they receive the damaged one back. They would deal with UPS for the damages.  this in itself sounds like a scam to rip off UPS since I am not the only one they have done this too. then I received email requesting photos, when I had tracking that showed they had the shipment at that facility.

I am now due to get computer monday 9/30/2013 from UPS,  however the shipping weight is 9 lbs . The other computer shipping weight was 24 lbs.  I will request UPS carrier wait 5 minutes to witness this package..I will add more later if this is still not corrected.
