Empire Today sold me 800 square foot laminate flooring. Promotion was buy one room get two free. Not sure how I paid $ 8500.00 for 800 squre foot of laminate flooring. Never saw how I got 2 rooms free even if I had to pay labor for all three rooms. I do not see how it was a good deal to pay for 800 square foot of plastic for $ 8500.00. My mother bought real oak hardwood flooring for that price. Also they tell you they will complete it in 2 days with 5 guys and they will stay until 9:00 p.m. at night. So I only asked off from work for 2 days.

Four days later the floor was still not completed. They would not stay past 6:00 p.m. and they only had 2 guys show up to do the work. The guys ruined my molding around my doors by accidently hitting the molding while trying to hit the hardwood floors in. I have dents all over my moldings around all my doors. They also put in white quarter round around the dark brown hardwood floors instead of putting dark brown quarter round so I had to go paint myself the quarter round so it would all match. I could not believe I had to go fix their work.

I thought the quarter round was wood but it is actually plastic so do not accidently step on it because it will break just like plastic does. They also would not seal in the quarter round once they put it in. I asked them to do that and they would not do it. They said they would only seal in the quarter round if they see a gap. Well there was a bunch of gaps but they would not seal it in. They tried to only put hardwood up to the stove and up to the dishwasher. I insisted they move the fridge, stove and washer out and floor underneath. They did not want to do they and stated it was not customary.

They made me feel like I was being inreasonable. Also, I moved all my stuff in the house to the garage so I would not get dust all over my stuff. They went and did all their cutting and work in the garage so I had 2 inches of dust on all my stuff. I could not believe they had the stuff sitting on the floor to wrap all my stuff up but would not use it. When they left they did not vacumn up the dust so I had a lot of clean up to do. They would not close the doors coming in and out of the house so my house was full of flies that I could not get rid of for weeks.

I think the labor they use is "day labor" they find downtown as they came in some truck that looked like they lived in the truck and they kept saying they do not actually work for Empire Today--they were contractors working for themselves. Once the Empire salesperson sold me the floors never heard from her again-not even to find out how it turned out and if I was happy with the finished product. They also left many thin, sharp nails coming out from the quarter round that I had to pull out with pliars as they were really hurting the animals as they passed by the quarter round. The nails were just sticking out ......I would never recomment Empire Today EVER....

Empire Today will have their people call you up if you file a report of Ripoff Report. The people will argue with you and argue with you rather than try to make it right. They had someone call me from their corporate office Rex Johnson or his secretary and argue and argue with me why it was ok for them to charge me $ 8500.00 for laminate flooring for only 800 square foot of flooring. They kept saying over and over " you signed the contract " "you signed it" ......I asked her why she even called me. I found out because I had other contractors from Lowes and from HomeDepot come over and they gave me estimates after Empire Today left. They told me they would of charge me $ 900.00 for the laminate flooring and then 3 times that for the labor at a total cost of $ 3600.00 They would of never charged me $ 8500.00 They told me I was ripped off big time. They said they are known for that. They prey on people that just dont know the cost of laying flooring or know the industry. They said if I would of told them no to that price it would of gone down to $ 6900.00 of I would not of agreed to that it would of gone down to $ 5000.00 and so on and so on.....They said they would of had a nice profit for themselves at $ 3600.00 but they are so greedy....a greedy company..they said I should read all the posts on ripoff report and all the posts on BBB and I would of never chosen them. They said even when they have a chance to make all the complaints right they still will not compensate their customers. They will only compensate when the lawyers call only....THEY OWE ME $5000.00 TO MAKE THIS RIGHT

Empire Today overcharged me also. They overcharged me quite a bit. It cost them $900.00 for their materials yet they charged me $7600.00 for the labor--Total Cost was $ 8500.00. Usually it is customary if the cost of materials are $900.00 you charge 3 times that in labor. They charged 9 times in labor. I see online where they charged a customer that bought the same amount I bought they charged them $6900.00 for 800 square foot of laminate and they charge me $8500.00 for 800 square foot of laminate. Jesus ---They have to hire a full warehouse just for all their damage control ---so many people are so pissed off I am sure there will be a huge class action law suit against them and the lawyers will be getting all the cases off Ripoff Report.com --They also write fake rebuttals but really dont actually try to contact their pissed off customers
