The best way to describe the situation is to look at the correspondence from the company recruiter themselves:

Subject: Once again if I WOULD HAVE RECEIVED YOUR CHECK there would be no issues! First all I told them each day I would see if the check came, If it did then I could go to the site.  They called me back and said that I wold be mis-committed for the rest of the week since I didn't have gas money. This is when I started emailing you both frantic and upset.  The issue here is compounded by the pressure I am dealing in that I have been renting cars for over 6 weeks to solve my car issue. In fact I have a rental in the drive way I cannot take back because I have not received your check. Once again if I WOULD HAVE RECEIVED YOUR CHECK there would be no issues!

Subject: Re: Once again if I WOULD HAVE RECEIVED YOUR CHECK there would be no issues! You hire contractors to eliminate the need for hiring employees out in the field, the typical, service delivery model. You perhaps wait 30 days to pay us to assure your payment is never more than 60 days out. The reality is, I learned that I cannot put my eggs into one basket, being a technician on the road, for Endeavor. (At least without some kind of financial buffer in front of  me.)  

I do not find this model unattractive. I only find it having issues when you are a tech on the road relying 100% on Endeavor.  Now I never doubted I would get paid, I do think that Endeavor is soluble, but I also believe that as in any system, or business models there are going to be issues that affect negatively the people you put on the street and as well rely on. I am not a phone jockey, or a desk jokey, I am the person who meets with your customers-customers. I turn in the wires, I extend them. I to date, been punished when I have driven 100 of miles and the LEC did not do their job. I get punished when I drive no mile and the LEC does not do their job. To date I have been refused travel when I traveled to a job and it was piggy backed to another job that was canceled. (I have learned in that scenario to protect myself and make sure if one gets canceled that it does not have travel associated with it.). 

The honest truth was on Tuesday I called as a vendor and said clearly "I am sorry but I cannot make it to your site since I do not have gas money and cannot get to the site, because I have not received a check from Endeavor." I was as honest as I cold be. The response that we have money we owe you and we are going to punish you for  not showing up by withholding money is a sour way of doing business with a customer who make  you money. Especially regarding the circumstances of why I could not make it to these sites. That is a customer service delivery model that does not care about its techs, but more important care about its profits over the tech.  

I do believe you have compassion and this is why you have taken time away from everything.  I credit you with that.
