I got a mare from them and was told that she was healthy besides her blindness there was nothing wrong with her she may be in foal which I was ok with . I told the owner that I just wanted to make sure I wasn't running in any further problems do to me having already a blind horse and a few yearlings .  So I really could not deal with something mature that could endanger the health of my other horses . She also told me in a email that this mare may come down with shipping fever which still was ok with me .  5 Days after arrival the mare came down with a fever and had breathing problems also a very snotty nose it was definitely not shipping fever. Vet came out and said it was pneumonia I got her on meds the bill was highs so a friend of mine asked for help for me which i got to cover that bill . Now all my mares came down with the same symtoms as she did  I called the vet again the horses do not reside on the same property there are about 10 miles apart . Vet came and took a nasal swab out of my mare  the test results were bad they all have strangles now . So I went and asked for help because I know I can't do this on my own and I 'm way over my head with it instead to get help I got bashed and told that my first donation should have be enough help to cover it with really no strangles on four horses are u kidding . They all got it because of me so I was told she was healthy and they are not to blame at all . They send people to my side to bash me to call me every name I have all the emails and comments from EOTL and Renee to back up what was said between us.

They wanted to get rid of her she was urgent so I was told but then come to find out she was there already for weeks. She was healthy so I was told again but yet I found out that they treated her for 10 day with penicillin and said it was a precaution . I did mention that she is possible in foal right .

I absolutely love reading stuff about all of the horse placesments and rescues. Clearly you were not the horse owner for a "blind" mare any way. Strangles is not a big deal unless it is the b*****d strangles. That can actaully kill a horse. However the picture is showing the very end stage of the strangles.. When a horse has the strangles their body fights it on their own just like a humans body when they have a cold. As for you "adopting" a horse that came off of a kill truck you assume the risk of getting a horse that is sick. Have you ever been to a horse sale or watched a kill buyer load a kill truck??? Clearly the answer to that is a no as well.. You can ask anyone that has and they will tell you that these kill horses get shipped from sale to sale all over the US and if this was a tri state area kill buyer then I will almost bet that this horse has been at one or more of all of the local sales. Imagine all the siuck horses that it came into contact with. Get real and get your s**t straight before you type up bullshit that you clearly have not taken the time to research. I am an avid supporter of all of the rescues that I have come into contact. I support what they are doing by saving all of the horses that do not have another chance.. On the plus side since all of your colts got the strangles you dont have to worry about vaccinating them for it or them getting it at a later date :)
