I had just pulled into a shopping Plaza and was going to make a payment on my T.V. at Buddy's, and a gentlemen in a Red Chevy Colbot, pulled up to me and said You might think I'm crazy but, come over here so I can show you.

The getlemen pulled into a parking spot and showed my this surround sound system. He said he had just installed the excact same kind on a job, for a lady of total of 3,000 dollars w/installation, and this one was an extra that got sent by accident. He then showed me the box, where it said MSRP 1,999.00 and said I'll give you a really good deal, but I have to hurry because he was in his bosses car and had to get it back to him and if the extra stereo from his previous job was in the car the boss would keep it.

So I called my fiance and asked him if he wanted me to buy it. I put him on the phone with the guy and he was telling him everything about it. Titanium speakers, all the wires, subwoofer that bangs louder than any Target, Circut City or Best Buy system out there..ya he was a really good sales men. They differed over the price for alittle bit, he told my fiance, "I could get $500.00 if I had more time but I gotta get my bosses car back to him". So he said how about, 200.00 and my fiance said I'll give ya $150.00, the gentleman said come on can ya do alittle better than that so they finially agreed upon $180.00, and he put it in the trunk of my car.

Haha.. Now get this, I only had a Debit card on me.. this guy drove me to a Circle K, that would only let me draw $100.00 out so I told him to take me to my Bank, a few blocks up, where he waited in the car while I withdrew the money. He then drove me back to Shopping Plaza, I got out of the car and he drove off.

Later on that night, my fiance had got home from work and was going to hook it up. Well, when he pulled the "Subwoofer" out of the box.. sand fell out of the bottom of it. My fiance said that was to make it Feel like there was some serious weight going on. But that wasn't the case. He also looked at the speakers were nothing but shinny plastic. Ewww that Hurt and it Hurt BAD!! It was a big SCAM, what can we do about it?

TOWN OF TONAWANDA: Two arrested for selling stereos

Staff Reports
The Tonawanda News

Town police arrested two men Thursday for peddling without a permit after they were found selling stereos out of a van.

A resident called just before 3 p.m. to complain that he had been approached by two men who told him they had surplus speakers and other stereo equipment for sale. When questioned by police, Nicholas M. Monaco and Brandon S. Pearce said they work for a company called Epic Sound, buying equipment from a man named Joe on Long Island and reselling it.

The men produced a receipt for the equipment they had, but the company name on the document was Audio and Video Co. The van they were driving was registered to a third company, American Audio Wholesale.

Well, Joe owns a whole bunch of the same kind of companies, Pearce said when asked about the discrepancy.

When questioned apart, both men provided different answers about the nature of their business. Pearce said he and Monaco were co-owners and they buy equipment from Joe. Monaco said the pair only works for Joe.

A search on the Internet led investigators to multiple reports of sales being conducted under the name Epic Sound under similar pretenses. Often those purchasing the items arrived home only to find that the equipment was fake.

The men were released on $100 bail each.

Norway Audio Concepts

AUTHOR: Alex - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, September 03, 2009

Hey everyone,

I am in the same boat. I feel taken advantage of and stupid. Mostly because I have never fallen for one of these things and consider myself savy in electronics. Within the Valparaiso, Indiana area there was a green Ford SUV (Ford Explorer) with 3 young men. One went by the name of Don.

Similar story to all the above cases, had a bunch left over from a project, tons of paperwork from their 'business', certified amounts of how much they paid from Fedex, etc.... The system had MSRP of 2999.00 on the box and same as all the paperwork.

Went to the ATM, pulled out 500 and handed it over to them. They wanted beers, etc.. if I ever see them in return. Said the whole ebay thing, yatta yatta. I feel very frustrated that I didn't pull out my phone and do a quick Google search on the company that manufactured these things. I never heard of the name before and was immediately weary, but since the box had the price and the paperwork all lined up, I felt compelled.

Now I am down 500 bucks and I have a garbage audio system. I mean, it works, and functions, but worth no more than 150 bucks.

Wish there was something I could do, however all I CAN do is do a whois search on the domain name and complain to the original people.

Item Purchased:
Model R9

Company:
Norway Audio Concepts from P.O. Box 35239 Elmwood Park, IL 60707-0239

Things I observed:
*There is nothing on Google from this manufacture
*The domain name was only 3 months old (registered)
*The website was garbage
*This was a very expensive system, I thought it was from another country because I never heard of the name before.

I hope mine and others' ignorance will provide some information in the near future for others.

Same thing. But the system did work..it just didn't sound good. He though he was getting a deal because of the MSRP on the box (idiot) and could sell it on ebay and make money. No one sells anything worth buying out of the trunk of their car in a parking lot..but then again I grew up in NYC so I don't trust anyone.

Why on earth....

AUTHOR: ReactorCore - (Canada)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 05, 2009

Would anyone buy a high end product out of the back of an SUV, in a parking lot??

Come on, people... It reeks of all the stereotypes of the shifty "salesman" who sells you something "that fell off the back of the truck" or the huckster who walks the street selling sets of "quality" butcher's knives for $50 out of a duffel bag he's carrying.

Although I do feel really sorry for you all, once you step back and look at the whole set up, you really have to kind of laugh... Look, next time when and if this happens to you, look at the thing as if you're a third person, passing on the street observing the transaction. Would you laugh at yourself for being gullible? Would you shake your head at yourself for being suckered?

Go with that gut instinct in the vein that "if it's too good to be true, it is".

Tempe, Arizona

AUTHOR: Diablonatt - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 26, 2009

These guys are apparently making their living getting around in Arizona now. A customer of where I work had the system in their car and were more then willing to give it to me, a generous gesture I thought since things have gone topsy turvry lately at home.

Get home, open the box and after one look at the manual I see that it's a fake. There were no e-mails, addresses, information or anything else. I immediately got on the computer, looked it up and this was the first site that came up.

Sadly there are people trying to sell it on the internet and I'm afraid someone will fall for it.

This is most definitely a fake system and not one part of it is usable... unless someone just wants it to sit in their house and look cool.

I was a victim of the same thing in tampa, fl.

AUTHOR: Chris - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 16, 2008

I was pulling out of the parking lot for my place of employment. I pulled up to take a right on a main road, traffic was backed up beyond my exit. The car that was blocking my exit yelled and asked if I wanted a free home theatre, naturally, home theatre? free? Whats this guy up to

We pull into the next parking lot and he tells me that hes on a delivery making a run with these 1999.99 MSRP home theatre speakers. He opens up the back of his red SUV and shows me that he has about 5 of them in which he got 2 extra in a delivery of the lot of them. He tells me that hes off to deliver the rest of them now and that he needs to get rid of them or they'll take the extra.

As proof that he's on a delivery, he showed me a fedex package with the amount of the delivery printed on a sheet of paper taped onto the package. The paper included the license plate of the car, the name of the drivers, location to where they were deliverying, it looked incredibly legitimate.

He told me that he was going to try to sell them on ebay if he can hide one away for 1000$, and if I was going to do the same, at least wait a week so he doesnt have competition.

After some talking, he opens up the completely "factory" sealed box, shows me the speakers, and walks me to the nearest ATM to pull out 100 dollars. I give him 200 dollars, in order to build more rapport with me, he also tells me that if I ever see him around, i should can just buy him some beers as well since the price he was asking was so cheap.

The second I get back to work, I did some research and immediately realized what I had done.

I'm a college student. I don't have a lot of money lying around. I'm trying my best to buy christmas presents for my entire family for the first time in years. then this happens. I wrote down the license plate number and have the cell phone number of the man who sold it to me. Chris was the con artist, randy was the driver.

Tiffany, please call me at 813 951 1324 and tell me the end result of what happened with the product. I would love to see if we can somehow get this resolved.
