I notice I am not the only one! I got a summons for a 20.00 check I wrote to Lakeridge Jr High in Orem for school lunches. I noticed the check returned. I usually don't have this problem, so I waited for the collection notice. I heard nothing and then I forgot all about it.

4 months later I get a summons with no notice. It said I had to pay 390.00 in Damages (actually, 20 for the check, 20 for the fee, 100 in "damages" and 250 in court costs. I wrote a response like it told me to. In the reponse I said that I ws happy to pay for it, but I only wanted to know what the "damages" were. 4 days later I get a call from them wanting me to pay it right away. I asked if I could wait till pay day. She said it could be too late, It could get filed. I said "can you wait and file it till I get paid in one week. She was going to file it and the price went up to 425.00

BUT WAIT: Didn't I have 20 days to respond to the 390.00???

She said I got a notice. I don't remember getting a notice. But I am happy to pay for this. I sent a response like the summons said, BUT SHE DIDN'T GET THAT! I challenged her with "how can I be lying about not getting a notice and you NOT lying about not getting my response?

This is obviously a way to only make money and I told her I will pay on the 27th, but that she will not hear the end of it. I do have freedom of speech and I do have ways of getting things out in the media.

I am paying her the balance in 1 dollar bills.
