I have been contacted via Yahoo IM by three girls that initially seemed to want to actually talk to me, but within about 3-5 minutes would send me random pictures of themselves and then tell me they were models for some site and tell me to sign up on some site so I could rate them highly. This would require me filling out several forms and signing up for some trial for some porn site (webcams.com) that would charge me $4.99 for the trial.

The girls all claimed they'd send me some code to put in on the "third page" and that I wouldn't get charged. But of course, there isn't even a third page. There are only two pages to fill out and then you are on the main page of webcams.com and there is nowhere to put any code in. The third girl was the most difficult. English was not her first language or she was likely retarded because she spoke with the grammar of a 5 year old. She constantly had me making new user names and trying different forms. The girls seem confused about what form they send you as well. They give you instructions that don't apply to the form they've sent you. It's as if they can't keep their story straight.

It is rather easy to "cancel" the trial though. You simply click Help and ask How do I cancel my account and then you can easily do so. But I don't think they stop charging you even if you choose to cancel. I think the girls are hired by the site to mess around with men in their 20s to trick them into signing up multiple times and get the website even more money. I will be disputing all the charges put on my credit card by these scam artists and if I do not get all of my money back I will have my revenge.

#4 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Me too

AUTHOR: Isobel - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 19, 2011

I, like the model above, have modeled for that site, webcams.com.  They have affiliate marketers and spam bots that go chat guys up and pretend to be us.  They actually send us emails saying, "We're running a new promotion where we send emails to 'the guys' (emphasis mine) acting like we're models to get them to come in.  If a guy comes in and says he's been talking to you just go along with it."

I quit when I found out that they were scamming guys.

We cam girls know that if you're made uncomfortable or believe that you've been ripped off we won't get to see you anymore.  Since we don't get paid unless we get shows (35-50% of the per minute rate) we want to get as many shows as possible and cultivate regular clients.  A real cam girl will not rip you off.  A real cam girl will also not contact you unsolicited on a IM chat application.

#3 UPDATE Employee

it's not the girls that tricked you

AUTHOR: anon - (United States of America)

i just wanted to clear things up. i happen to be a model for that company and i can tell you that it is not the girls that tricked you. it is they're affiliate marketers who pose as us to get you to join the site. so you may think that you are talking to some hot chick, sorry to tell you but it is most likely a dude and they posing as the chick in the pic.

i am sincerely sorry for your situation but you cannot blame the girl in the pic for this, we are the innocent ones in these kinds of matters. anyone can pose as a hot chick on the net unless you see her live cam and talk to her in person, you cannot blame the model for this. thanks.
