I recently noticed a pending, unauthorized charge on my debit/checking account from JCbill.com for $24.95.  It was labeled as a POS (Point of Sale) Debit charge, which is crazy.  How do you make a POS with an Internet company?  Anyway, I've never heard of this company and certainly don't know what the charge was for.

I checked their website online, and it seems really fishy to me.  All the website has is some contact info and a membership cancellation form.  I couldn't find anything more about the company until I searched on Google and found that someone else had already complained.

When I called my bank, they said that since it was pending, they wouldn't do anything, but that I should contact the company to get the charge removed.  What creeps me out about that though, is that they already have some of my information, obviously, and by contacting them I'd just be giving them more (my email, phone).  My bank also said I wouldn't need to give them my card or account number to get the charge removed, but I wonder how they will know what charge to remove if I don't give them that information. It feels like the bank doesn't want to get involved, which financially I understand, but I also feel that they're MY bank, and they need to work FOR me, not just brush me aside.

After calling my bank, I hope the charge will be removed be for it really posts, but it seems crazy that this kind of stuff happens all the time.  Where do they get the number from?  If other people are complaining, why don't the banks have records and cancel the sales?

Check your account carefully, everyday.  I used to be more relaxed about it, but after something similar happened to my wife not a month ago, we are both becoming extra vigilant.  We're thinking of changing banks as well.  Go with a little guy like a credit union or something.  I don't know...

Hope this report helps someone else out that might be getting scammed by JCBill.com.
