Equity Apartments Palm Trace Landings Maintenance, What Maintenance? & The Wishy-Washy Water Bill Davie Florida

I just would like to start out by saying I have lived in this complex for over four years. It was originally managed by Archstone and I never had any problems with any of these things before the take over by Equity Apartments.

They don't ever do maintenance on the weekends, and the guys they employ KNOW NOTHING about anything to fix it. In my old apartment the AC had broken numerous times, and the best the "maintenance" men do it clean the coil and give me a new air filter. I called them at least once a month for AC maintenance, saying that it was leaking water. Well the unit had leaked into the downstairs apartment, and the people complained. Equity tried to get me to pay for the carpet cleaning bill, saying I neglected to inform them of the leak. Then they tried to charge me to have a new unit installed in my apartment.

In my new apartment the first time the AC broke I called and paid for a professional, who told me that he's worked on a lot of units in this complex for other tenants who are fed up with Equity.

For the 6 months Equity didn't tell us they were charging for trash with the rent. The water bill from NWP charges for trash, sewer & water as well- so we've been paying double, and every other month recieving a statement from them saying we owe them an extra $34. By the time I straightened this out at the office we had overpaid by $80. I was told I have a credit on my account and "Don't worry about paying it for the next three months." I still receive notices from them every month about what I owe them.

This management company and complex stinks in general. Cars and apartments get broken into all the time.
