We were called to set up a meeting with Mr. Bob Bruns to develop a Magento website. Bob stated that he wanted a "Mac style theme" for Magento. We gave drafted out a contract and provided an estimate of man hours.

We said at the meeting on 8/12/10 we could get the first site up (for within 5-7 business days of the deposit. My secretary who was at the meeting witnessed all of this correspondence. As promised, on 8/20 we provided Bob with a link to the first iteration.

At this point Bob replied to the e-mail with the dev link and said "I have a few changes, but really I like it". The next day, Bob replied with extremely poor, misspelled and vague revisions, not clearly stating exactly what pages or elements of the design he wanted changed. We required Bob to post his project specification in our internal Project Management Tool to ensure all revisions were expedited in a timely fashion, as well as to ensure transparency for all the other people involved in the project. He refused to do so, and when he finally did login, he began a long string of insults and some of the most unprofessional behavior I have ever encountered in my 15 years of doing business. Going as far as to threaten me directly.

We maintained our professionalism throughout the threats, insults and fowl language continually asking them to clearly document their specific requirements for revisions for the development, but they refused to do so. After wasting over 20 hours of our time (that was not invoiced) going back and forth, Bob demanded we put the site on his server. I told him that until the asset had been paid for per man hours ($60 per hour x 68hrs = $4080 - $2000 deposit = $2080), I could not release any assets to him.

At this point, Debra Hamilton (who really had no idea what was going on in the project) logged into the Project Management Tool and started cussing at us! When we tried to explain to her all we were asking for was clear instructions on their required changes, and payment for services rendered, she demanded we give her a detailed list of all labor.

This was on or about mid day 8/25/10. As anyone who does business knows, this of course takes time to go back and ask our designers / developers to send us back a log of all labor hours, and then the report has to be generated, so we said we would get that to her within 24-36 hours. As promised we provided her with a detailed list on 8/27/10 outlining every meeting, design and dev related to their project. It is now almost 2 months later, and the remaining invoice of $2080 has still not been paid. We called them every day for the last month to initiate some kind of resolution, but they either hung up on us, or someone said "They aren't in the office". No e-mails we sent them after this were responded to either.

As we have researched, they are a family of grifters and scam artists who were ran out of Chicago for stuff just like this. They have a lot of complaints already in their short two years here in the Southwest United states...

They are notorious for using intimidation, threats and other unscrupulous behavior to squeeze extra work out of vendors, and rip off customers. Do your own research. I regret ever meeting them.

Rebuttal to the false claims of Steve Floyd aka AXZM Dallas Web Design Company

Some weeks back, our company filed a Better Business Bureau complaint against Mr. Steve Floyd of AXZM, Dallas Texas  It appears that Mr. Floyd may be using this venue as retaliation against that the BBB filing.  Reports of this nature and on this site should be accurate.  I believe that under the circumstances described in the report, the person filing should be identified, as well, so that he may be held accountable for his libelous statements.

Mr. Floyds report is constructed of untrue, even what could be considered weird statements.  Because answering each and every one here would take several pages, the following lists a few examples.  

1) A specific response to one that relates to billing: He states that as anyone who is in business knows you have to ask your designers to give you a back log of what they did, and how long it took them to complete.  In every business where I have worked, when you bill your client for hours rendered, you already have a listing of what hours were expended on what tasks and by whom or you would have no basis for the billing.  In that event, you would already have compiled the log and have no need to ask for another two days to send the bill you have yet to make up.  

2) There were two other witnesses in the room besides Mr Floyds mother, Debra Sweet, whom he refers to as his secretary, account manager, or office manager.

Leaving aside the actual service dispute with Steve Floyd, some of the easily disproved statements are: 

1. He says that he has called us daily for the last month straight and he was hung up on or told we were out.  Our receptionist took three calls from AZXM in the two weeks after August 26, all from Esther DEntremont who said she was now assigned to our account.  The phone system log, which, unlike email, is not subject to selective modification, shows no other calls from AXZM since that time.

2. No emails have been received since August 27, the date AXZM dallas web design aka Stephen C. Floyd quit working on our project. Which was after we pointed out that AZXM was using a freeware template and calling it their own design, and then trying to bill us for twenty plus hours worth of labor to install the template. The actual designer of the template freshly installed a (functioning) retail version for $69.00. It took him twenty minutes to do the job. 

3. Mr. Floyd claims "As we have researched, they are a family of grifters and scam artists who were ran out of Chicago for stuff just like this. They have a lot of complaints already in their short two years here in the Southwest United states."  Which are extraordinarily odd things to say.  Mr Floyd will be called on to produce this research in court. 

4. Mr. Bruns and his family members have been living and running their businesses in Texas since the mid 90s, no member of this family has lived in Chicago since the 1980s.  From our point of view, the fact that Mr. Floyd felt it necessary to write such spurious, and off-the-wall comments seems to actually serve as a demonstration of just one of the many reasons we felt it necessary to speak with the BBB in the first place. 

To answer his allegations against our business integrity, we are electronics recyclers.  We process over one hundred tons of electronics a month.  Our philosophy is that reuse is the highest form of recycling.  We do our best to ensure that the recycled items we sell are exactly as advertised.  Sometimes, mistakes are made and we do our best to correct any that may occur.  Sometimes, despite our best efforts, the resolution is not to the buyers satisfaction.  

Of course, we would prefer those disputes to remain private, and it is still America and still the individuals right to voice his or her dissatisfaction. As long as the vocalization is accurate, no one here questions that right.  As is also true that no one wants to be the victim of blatant lies.  

Mr. Floyd chose to remain anonymous in his filing.  We do not.  Our contact information is posted in the report.  I posted my full name in the rebuttal of this report.  This venue does not wish us to post direct email addresses, but mine is on our website and/or can be obtained from our receptionist..  Email is better than telephoning, since I am often in and out of the office, but our phones are answered Monday to Friday between 8:30AM CT and 4:00PM CT, with a 30 minute break at Noon for the receptionists lunch.  

I will be happy to answer questions regarding the remainder of Mr. Floyds allegations and/or any questions with regard to the basis of our original complaint against his company AXZM dallas web design.
