I called Verizon to find out why my bill has gone up $40 a month. He told me I have been charged by "other" providers. It is now 8/08 and he found charges going back to 12/07. Total of these charges are $130.00. The names of these three companies are ILD aka Familly 911 Connect and Net Watch Isp.com. There is also ESPI aka www.unitedtele.com. I am having a problem getting a refund on net watch.
So far two of them were under my husbands nickname, one of them had his date of birth, address and email. Not sure how they got this but these are scams. I don't understand how the phone company can allow these charges. There are so many different types of charges on our phone bills it's hard to differentiate them. So far I have spent an hour trying to get this handled. NO FUN!
Lesson learned look at every detail on all of your bills!

Fake charges through Qwest for ESBI

I too was ripped off by Qwest who charging us $14.95 per month for a premium email system that we didn't subscribe to, and never used. We have our own very happy little email service from another provider It was the usual story about how I or my technophobic husband must have clicked on an ad site that hooked them up to Qwest. NEVER woudl happen.
I find it appalling that my land-liine phone company would participate in this scam. We never asked for it, we didn't need it (we have our own emil with Peak DSL) and it was obvious that the account had nevw\er been used.
Ater two long, long phone calls I inally got someone to authorize refunding us back to 7/08, which is when the charges started. I thought this was already taken care of, but the bill showed only that the service was removed, but no indication of 6 months refund.
I called again today, and am SUPPOSED to be reimbursed for all the bogus charges. TheQwest rep. did say that ESBI could still try to bill us. Ha! I hope they won't have the nerve.
We had the same sort of slamming done on our Verizon account and resolved that with (so far) no Predicto goons on our tails.
This "slamming" an then claiming that you HAD to have clicked on a site and ordered it, when you clearly did not or would NOT even think of it, is fairly common. For those lazy beings (like me), I have a bit of advice. Check your credit card bills and contest anything you feel is bogus. Some of these charges go back over 6 months and I feel like a fool for not noticing them before.
Anyway, small potatoes when compared to the big picture I just hate these sleazy companies get away with this b.s.
If it's happened to enough of us, how about a class action suit? I'm up for that and will help if anyone knows how to get it rolling.
