I found an ad on craigslist about a $900 low-income apt. advertised by Keisha Mac Donald, I sent an email with my contact number and a lady by the name of Miss Jones called me and scheduled the viewing which I went to (but a man in his 40's or 50's was there in the apartments, not Miss Jones). Once I saw the apartments, I picked the one that I wanted and called Miss jones, she sent me to their office the next day to fill out the credit check application with Pernell (a $125 fee) and I got a receipt for that, he also gave me his business card. About 4 days later I called her and she told me that she got the results but in order for her to send my application to the city I have to bring the 1st month rent + 1 month deposit $1,800) with all my paperworks (copies of my Social Security card, Driver's license, last 2 W-2 forms and so on). At first I kind of hesitated about the money but then again I thought that since I got a receipt, their phone numbers and I know where their office was, if anything goes wrong I know where to go. So on june 20, 2007 I went back to the office and bring everything she asked me, Pernell was the one who was there and he gave me a receipt for that too. So in fact even though I was dealing with Miss Jones, I never had a chance to meet with her in person because she was using excuses that she was on her different sites that she managed. The next day I called Miss Jones to ask her if she got the money, she said yes and also told me "did I tell it was going to take 3 weeks?", at that point I started to get frustrated because she never mentioned that before and I told her from the beginning that I wanted the apt. by july 1st but she explains to me that things are slow with the city and if by any case they deny my application, she'll process the refund and put me thru her regular apartments and that kind of assure me a little bit. Nevertheless I was calling her on the regular basis trying to get an update from her and 9 times out of 10 she wouldn't answer my calls and even if she does she always managed to give all kinds of excuses and promises she never delivered, causing lots of stress and worries. Anyways to make the story short, the receipts Pernell gave me was signed Kokay Management, Pernell's office name is Eske Realty, I got my credit report and they used A.J. Realty Group Inc to run my credit, when I found out all that, I tried so hard to get in touch with them but Pernell was not at the office no more, the door is locked and they don't do business there no more, as of Miss Jones aka Keisha Mc Donald aka Angela Jenkins, she doesn't answer my calls no more, the last we spoke, she even hung up on me. Out of curiosity I google their 3 different companies and found these reports. I called the city to find out if in fact my application made it, they told me that the apartment building that I applied for is not part of their program, I call the toll free number of the money order company and found out that the money was cashed on june 22 (2 days after I gave it to them). To all of you that's out there we need to get in touch to file a class action against these people because it would be too easy for them to do this and get away with it. On my part I've already filed a lawsuit but I'm not even sure if their names are real. I'm also trying different things to track them down and hopefull I will succeed. We need to act quick on it.
