Esplanade Apartments - BRE Properties Snubbed, Ignored, Lied To, and Screwed-Did I Miss Anything? San Diego California

I have been a resident at these AWFUL apartments for approximately 3 years. The community has gone downhill and it is getting exponentially worse-both in the tenants that are being allowed to rent and the management's ability to provide answers and resolve situations.

The latest situation I speak of is the maintenance crew and the management's uncandid ability to lie to a person's face. I reported a problem with the hot tub not working back in May 2008. It is now almost to the end of September 2008 and the hot tub is still not working! I have called repeatedly asking the status and when things were going to be fixed only to be told, "It is fixed. I know for a fact it has been working." Who do they think they are kidding?! I have been going out religiously to check if it is working because I have a bad back and the hot tub is greatly needed. Do they think I enjoy talking to them until I'm red in the face and I enjoy wasting both their time and mine?! I don't think so. I just got off the phone with the maintenance supervisor and he was very rude and told me that he knows it was working. I don't know who they think they are talking to, but I KNOW FOR A FACT that it isn't working-I checked it two days ago. Before I even was put through to FINALLY talk to a maintenance person, both my husband and I have been getting the run-around and promises of "It will be fixed this weekend," "I have spoken to the maintenance manager and it will be repaired within the next 4 days." This has gone on long enough!!!

Also, to lure tenants into signing up on their website to make rent payments, those who did were entered into a raffle to win a $20 laundry card. My husband and I won. It took them A MONTH to get it to us because there was only one person who could give us the card and she "was on vacation." Then we finally received the card and went to the laundry room to do the laundry, put the card in the machine, and - $0.25!!! Are you kidding me?! When I called the office to let them know that the card they had given to me only had 25-cents on it, I had to leave a message on the machine....AGAIN! Calls are NEVER returned and the frustration continues to mount. This management and maintenance team are nothing but liars and try to make the tenant feel like the idiot because of their carelessness.

Another example of this carelessness is when I came home one day to see that there had been a worker in my home without my knowledge or permission. When I talked to the management team about this they said, "He just have gotten the work order confused and accidently went into your apartment." NOT ACCEPTABLE. Also, this person was in my home-without my knowledge or permission-for 3 hours!! What was this person doing in my home for that amount of time?!

This is a god-awful place to live and if it were easy to get out of our lease and move-we would be gone in a heartbeat. AVIOD THE ESPLANADE APARTMENTS!!!!
