I received a call from ETel Response on August 30, 2006 after filling out a ballot at the previous weekend's Busker Festival in Waterloo, Ontario.
I won the contest! "All expenses paid! VIP treatment! Executive suites! Five stars across the board!" After hearing all these wonderful things about the free vacation, they asked for certain information to verify my status as a contest winner. This information included my credit card number and expiry date! Of course, I realize what's happening (I pity any hapless senior citizens who don't get over the excitement of a trip to Florida in time to recognize the shadiness.)
They acknowledge that the credit card will be used to charge me the $798 US administration fee for the trip, but apparently that's what it means to verify me as a contest winner - CHARGING ME NEARLY A GRAND CANADIAN! Some contest.
I see from the message boards that I'm not the first to be hit up like this. I checked the call display on my phone - the number was 647-438-4324. I've no idea if they're the same guys at 615 Yonge, but it sounds just like the Imperial Majesty Vacations Aka Capitol Travel complaints filed on this site.
