Etronics bogus restocking charges Brooklyn New York

i ordered a digital camera from this company. i decided not to keep it, so i obtained an rma even before it arrived. the camera and accessories were returned in the original shipping cartons, unopened.

the company deducted a 15% restocking fee, which was about $75. their policy indicates a restocking fee MAY be charged, based on the condition of the merchandise. in this case, as previously stated, the shipping cartons hadn't even been opened!

i contacted customer support, who told me that there was no indication in their records as to why the fee was assessed, and that the decision was made by the warehouse manager. i was given an email address for this person. i sent emails explaining the situation and asking why the fee was assessed. i got no reply, so i sent emails to customer support again, who apparently decided not to respond.

i figured it's a lesson learned: don't do business with these people. then i came across this site, so i would like to warn everyone else. don't do business with these people if you think you might have to return the merchandise.
