Eurotransport Intl estimated $5,500 for my international moving from Houston to BA, Argentina. This included a door-to-door transportation, full packing & unpacking, loading & unloading, custom clearances and port charges at both ends.
The first surprise: the packing company they sent to my place (I realized at that moment thatEurotransport isonly an intermediate)called me a couple of days before asking formy credit card number ("regular procedure" according to them,otherwise the packing couldnt be done). Once the packing & loading finished, they billed $2,100 to my card instead of the $850 budgeted.
The second surprise: once the ship arrived in Argentina, they asked me to pay $1,871 more for a difference in port charges, land transportation and port charges.
The last and biggest surprise: After complaining as much as I could, I had to pay this amount...I thought they were going to release the moving from customs and deliver it to my place in a couple of days. But no. Instead, and because of their inefficiency, theydelayed my container 62 days in the harbor, costing me $6,000($3613 for Terminales Rio de la Plataand $ 2384 for Mediterranean Shipping Co)in fines.
Finally, fed up of their lies, I found another agency that release the cargo in three days (after payingabout $2,000 for fees andservices that I had already paid before).
In summary, the original estimate of $5,500 turn out to be a total bill of almost $16,000, not taking into account the discomfort for the two months I lived in an empty house. I wrote many times to Eurotransport but no one answered me back.
I tried to suit their local agency here in Argentina but they said that the proposal I signed says "that any litigation has to be brought in Quebec"...so theseinternet pirateskeep on cheating people like me and hundred of others that rely on their proposals. I wonder: is not a legal mechanism to stop them doing this?
I still believe in justice...
