I have been attending Everest online since 2005. I received my Associates in 2008 and was very proud. Until my job search. I couldn't find a single one. I was told that the career services would help me with this, but I was totally misled. They sent me email links with jobs that I didn't even qualify for. I knew something was up then, but brushed off. They assured me that they had a very high placement rate after graduation so I just waited patiently and tried to do everything they asked of me. Mind you I graduated c*m laud which means I had a gpa above 3.5. I gave up on my job search when it became close to the time my loans would need to be repaid and decided to re-enroll for a Bachelors. I told them my future plans to become a law student so they put me in Criminal Justice. I had to hurry and do all the paperwork and get it in to them because the classes would be starting soon. Once I had started they sent me a payment plan. I had to give them money because my loans, grants and scholarship did not cover the cost. This was in fall 2008. By the summer of 2009 I had serious questions for them I didn't receive a report card or copies off the paperwork I had been rushed to do. I contacted my advisor and my financial aid officer and got no where. My son had gotten sick so this was the last thing on my mind until now. I called many times sent emails. I finally talked to one rep that said they were regionally accredited, then another that said they were nationally and one said she didn't know and would email me when she did. This place has really done me wrong. I have given them $70,000 in loans, grants and scholarships and I am not even finished! I tried calling the accredidation ACICS they said file a complaint, but thats not helping me. I called the main CCI ofice and they said they would call me back. I had a simple question for my financial aid officer, How much exactly is the tuition? She said I will refer to the person in charge of that!!!! This school has stuck me with loads of debt that I know I will have trouble paying back. I went to a Navy recruiting station and they will not accept my degree. EVERYONE BEWARE IF THE SCHOOL IS NATIONALLY ACCREDITED. This means nothing to the real world. I don't how they can continue to do this to students. Everest and many others are for-profit schools which mean they do not have your best interest at heart. Don't take out loans for these types of school and trust me they will not want you. Don't sign any papers until to know all the hidden costs. They change their names so be careful of that also. Keep every email and letter you have and talk with a lawyer about your situation. There are lawsuits against them and don't feel like you can't win because you can! Does anyone want to join a class action suit against them? I am all for that.
