I just received my credit card statement and checked it carfully, as we all should especially with all the scams going on in this economy. Much to my surprise there was a $139.99 charge for a company called everydayvalue. I had no idea who or what it was so I proceeded to call the telephone number on the credit statement. When I got the company they were very evasive about what they did or how you get billed this amount but after insisting on a supervisor I found out that Budget Rent a Car, which I used in July for a day because my car was being repaired, had given me a packet of information with a rebate check for $9.25. I must have figured that it was just something being returned to me for the rental and cashed it. That was three months ago and I just now saw my credit card charged the $139.99 which they explained was a yearly membership to a company that basically does nothing. They claim that they send credits to different services that you can use, couldn't tell me if they send a membership card, couldn't explain exactly what the company does or doesn't do but they were willing to take off the membership fee and credit it on my next VISA statement. This is a total rip off and I will be contacting Budget to find out why they give out credit card information to companys without permission? This bogas company should be put out of business. I now have to pay the charge and wait for them to credit me the amount on my next bill or the following. They just couldn't tell me when it would be credited. I asked them to send me a copy of the check I supposedly deposited in my bank account and of course they said they would but I have my doubts. I also got a confirmation number nd a name from the person (supervisor) I spoke with but this is a terrible consumer rip off and I'm sure there are many people who have had their credit card information given out to companies. My next call is going to be to Budget rent a car which I will never use again.
