CHARGED ME $74 for $20 of gas that I paid for on my VISA GIFT CARD on Friday December 30, 2011.  I put gas in my car on the way to work.  I called the store and confronted them and was told by an employee that I have to bring in my receipt and prove that I only purchased $20.  I said I want the manager and then she yelled at me stating in gheto language that she told the manager what I said and that I have to bring in my receipt and prove it and they would take a look.

I said you have receipts of the date, time, pump, and amount and that you are committing fraud and that I would report you to corporate.  She hung up on me.  I notified Exxon Corp.  I then called mygiftcards CS number and was told that Exxon does this all the time.  She said they get calls about this all the time.  She suggested I wait a few days and see if the station corrects the charge.  She stated that if I had gone into the station and had them print me a receipt it would have been the correct charge.

She said this is the way they do things.  I am going to wait a few days and see what happens.  This is a problem, as I needed the rest of the money on that card for groceries.  If this does get resolved, it needs to stay up.  It is a rip off to anyone.  I purchased gas a few times from Chevron on this same card and it was at the pump and for exactly what I purchased.  It is unacceptable to be treated this way and for a retail gas station to hold my money.  I will never buy gas from Exxon again.

Same thing happened to me

BUT it is not the gas station - it is the gift card.  They put a hold on that money because they did the same thing to me.  I suggest you go to www.mygiftcardsite.com and get the phone number, call them and see when the hold will be removed.  It sucks big time but that is the way it works.
