EZTaxReturn is running a scam with AccountNow to hold tax returns!

I paid EZTaxReturn to prepare my taxes and file electronically with my own bank account and routing number, but instead EZTaxReturn had my money sent to BanCorp, then to AccountNow. There is no way for me to electronically access my money. I have to pay AccountNow $9.95 to SNAIL MAIL me a debit card to a new account through them!

All EZTaxReturn has to say about this is that I should have paid closer attention to the fine print in the pages worth of term and conditions. Thanks for nothing EZTaxReturn!

Complete lies

AUTHOR: JeaneneW - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, April 01, 2012

Direct deposit was never offered. AccountNow customer service was the worst I have ever dealt with, not only rude, but most of the information they gave me was incorrect. Even EZTaxReturn said they were wrong about almost everything they told me when I called the AccountNow number that was listed on EZTaxReturn's website.
The IRS still has no record of a check, and the rep that I spoke to said it was very strange for a company to mail a check after receiving direct deposit. Anyway, I still do not have my money, but I am supposed to believe that "the check is in the mail". It's almost funny... almost.

Response from AccountNow

AUTHOR: AccountNow - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 28, 2012

Per Jeanenes request, her tax refund has been returned to the IRS. A check was sent by AccountNow to the IRS on March 6, 2012 for the full amount of Jeanenes tax refund. The IRS unit that receives the check requires at least 6 weeks to review returned tax refunds. Once they complete their review they will update their records as to the status of the refund and mail the tax refund check to the address of record.

Jeanene:

The best action for you to take is to call the IRS at 800.829.1040. When calling the IRS, you must have your SSN and exact tax refund amount ready. They will use this information to access your account. You will be able to talk to an IRS representative who will look up your account information and give you the current status of your tax refund.

We understand your frustration but, with tax fraud so prevalent, the IRS and AccountNow must take precautions to protect tax payers money. We take this responsibility very seriously. It is critically important that names, addresses, and identities are verified.

To understand just how big the tax fraud problem is, everyone should watch this video from CNN: http://bit.ly/debitcardtaxrefund

We will always strive to protect our customers money, even if it requires a few more steps to verify identity. Its that important.

Please note that as we stated above,

Customer service teams from both ezTaxReturn.com and AccountNow offered to help, and offered to redirect her funds to her bank account if she would provide necessary proof of identification [she] wanted her refund returned to IRS so they could process a paper check. She was advised by both ezTaxReturn.com and AccountNow this would slow her refund by 6-8 weeks, and was again offered a direct deposit option and refused.

The vast majority of our users are able to file their returns  with no trouble and receive their refunds without a hitch.

We have over a 99.9% customer satisfaction rate.

Customer satisfaction seems to be of no concern

If the funds had been electronically rejected after being sent to the wrong account, then I would have my money already. Instead they waited THREE WEEKS to snail mail a check to the IRS (which I have no way of verifying was even done). Come on people, if you were writing a check then my money could have been mailed to me, but that was never given as an option. Nothing is easy when dealing with these people.

Best of luck to anyone who chooses to use them, I certainly do not recommend it.

We have done exactly what Jeanene requested. Although we advised Jeanene that returning her refund to IRS would cause delay in her receiving her refund; this is precisely what she instructed us to do.

AccountNow returned Jeanenes refund to IRS on 3/6/2012. As we advised Jeanene previously, the IRS unit that receives the check requires at least 6 weeks to review the case. Once they complete their review, they will update their records on the status of her refund. This will not happen before 4/17/2012, at the earliest. As much as we would like IRS to speed their review and processing, we have no control over IRS. Nonetheless, in every instance, we have completely fulfilled Jeanene's requests.

Rude, unprofessional. They have held my money for over a month now!

AUTHOR: JeaneneW - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, March 22, 2012

As I told EZTAXRETURN about 25 times, I wanted my money, in my account. EZTaxReturn's website directed me to a third party, AccountsNow, who wanted me to divulge more of my private information to them. I will not. EZTaxReturns would not correct the situation that was clearly not what I wanted, so I asked that my tax return be sent back to the IRS.

My money still has not been returned to the IRS and I filed my first complaint on the 12th of February. The IRS has assured me that it will only take a few weeks to process my return to the correct account, but they cannot do that until EZTaxReturn works with their scam affiliates to release my money as I asked them to weeks ago!

This has been a nightmare. And I'm sure you've noticed the tone of this company's rebuttle. Expect that from their customer service a well.

Jeanene seems to have a history of issues. It is unfortunate that any unhappy or discontented person can slander an honest person or company without initial accountability.

Jeanene elected to receive her refund on an AccountNow Prepaid Card. This was not a result of a mistaken click or an error on anyone's part. To get a refund on a prepaid card requires about 5 confirmations. While Jeanene had the opportunity to have her IRS refund direct deposited into her bank account, she specifically chose not to do so, and specifically applied for a refund on an AccountNow card. Jeanene subsequently contacted AccountNow and told them she never applied for a card. Because of fraud concerns, this is an obvious red flag, and AccountNow disabled the card that was sent to her. Customer service teams from both ezTaxReturn.com and AccountNow offered to help, and offered to redirect her funds to her bank account if she would provide necessary proof of identification. She was rude, refused help and wanted her refund returned to IRS so they could process a paper check. She was advised by both ezTaxReturn.com and AccountNow this would slow her refund by 6-8 weeks, and was again offered a direct deposit option. Again, she was rude and refused.

We're sorry this process was not easy for Jeanene. But the cause of the problem was neither ezTaxReturn.com nor AccountNow. Jeanene should cease the slander and put accountability where it belongs.
